DESCRIPTION:

As an Senior Estimator at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist with organizing and managing the bid process in conjunction with the Estimating Manager

  • Review and analyze bid documents to develop project labor, materials, and equipment requirements and costs

  • Travel to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, engineers, and consultants

  • Consult with suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process to determine costs

  • Assist with the technical proposals and presentations

  • Assist with the preparation of post-bid work plans, procurement, scheduling, and cost control

  • Actively participate in production tracking and post-job analysis

  • Assist with maintaining date base of historical estimates and project information records

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management is required

  • 5 + years experience in heavy civil, mining, construction or a related area with good working knowledge of general engineering applications and construction practices

  • Previous experience with field engineering, estimating, project scheduling, and technical writing required

  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, civil estimating software (preferably HCSS), and scheduling software (preferably Primavera P6).

  • Effective written communication, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks and manage those tasks concurrently within firm timelines

  • Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, specifications, and drawings

  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to function effectively within a team atmosphere

  • Ability to travel overnight as needed on an infrequent basis

  • Ability and willingness to visit sites (mines and tunnels) within an underground environment
