Thrive Plus Inc. is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team remotely from Woodbridge, New Jersey. This full-time position allows you to provide crucial therapeutic services within the community health clinic setting, focusing on children with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering positive behavioral changes among youth and families, while also approaching therapy with a culturally competent lens.

About the Organization

Thrive Plus Inc. specializes in delivering Comprehensive Youth & Family Support Services aimed at empowering primary caregivers and enhancing the lives of children and adolescents with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our organization prides itself on offering family-centered care that addresses the unique needs of each child, creating an environment where families can thrive together.

Work Environment

This role is designed to be fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to provide therapy in a comfortable environment. You will primarily engage in intensive in-community therapeutic services, tailored to meet the needs of your clients. Our supportive, interconnected team includes professionals from various disciplines, fostering a collaborative network to enhance treatment effectiveness and family support strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and family therapy sessions remotely, utilizing evidence-based practices to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Implement therapeutic strategies including anger management, coping mechanisms, and social skills training, particularly aimed at reducing high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
  • Facilitate communication and decision-making processes among youth and their caregivers to effectively tackle behavioral challenges within the home setting.
  • Collaborate diligently with the Child Family Treatment Team, contributing insights and recommendations during multidisciplinary meetings that focus on the holistic well-being of the child.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all therapy sessions and interventions, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.
  • Actively participate in monthly case reviews and team meetings to share best practices and improve service delivery.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on children and teenagers aged 3-20 who present with varying degrees of developmental challenges and intellectual disabilities. This role requires a deep understanding of the complexities associated with these populations, ensuring that each child's unique background and familial context is considered in the therapeutic process. As a bilingual therapist, you will enhance the reach and effectiveness of our services by providing support to Spanish or Portuguese-speaking families, making therapy more accessible and culturally relevant.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license is essential for this position.
  • A commitment to working a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours, specifically from 4 PM to 7 PM, with opportunities for weekend sessions.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle for any necessary travel related to in-community sessions.
  • A clean criminal background check, including successful fingerprinting, is mandatory prior to employment.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience delivering positive behavior support strategies, and practical knowledge in crisis intervention techniques.
  • Prior experience working specifically with children and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as a strong foundation in family systems therapy.
  • Proficiency in providing therapy in both English and a secondary language (Spanish or Portuguese), thereby enhancing communication with a broader client base.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 60,000 to 80,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, Thrive Plus Inc. is committed to the well-being of our staff, offering:

  • A dynamic, supportive work environment that fosters both professional and personal growth.

  • Short and long-term disability benefits for peace of mind against unforeseen circumstances.
  • A 401K plan to help you prepare for your financial future.
  • Ongoing career training and professional development opportunities that contribute to your career path and skill enhancement.
