What is a remote playground construction job?

A remote playground construction job involves overseeing, planning, or managing the design and building of playgrounds from a remote location, rather than being physically present at the construction site. Professionals in this role may coordinate with on-site teams, handle project management tasks, create digital designs, and ensure that safety and quality standards are met. This job typically requires strong communication skills, experience with construction or landscape design software, and the ability to collaborate virtually with clients and contractors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Playground Construction Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Playground Construction, you need knowledge of construction principles, site safety, and playground installation standards, often supported by experience or certification in construction or landscaping. Familiarity with tools such as CAD software, project management platforms, and building equipment is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills enable effective coordination with remote teams and clients. These abilities ensure playgrounds are built safely, efficiently, and to regulatory standards, even when managed from a distance.

How does a remote playground construction professional effectively coordinate with on-site teams to ensure project success?

Remote playground construction professionals rely heavily on clear communication and strong project management skills to collaborate with on-site teams. They typically use digital tools such as video conferencing, project management software, and shared documentation to oversee progress, resolve issues, and align on project specifications. Regular check-ins and detailed planning documents are essential to ensure that all safety regulations and design requirements are met, despite not being physically present. Building trust and maintaining open lines of communication with on-site supervisors and contractors is key to overcoming the unique challenges of remote oversight in construction.

Position Overview

Pelican Playgrounds is seeking a highly motivated Outside Sales Representative / Project Manager to take ownership of various market sectors in Louisiana.

This is a well-established territory with a strong sales history and significant growth opportunity. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, self-driven, and relationship-oriented — someone who enjoys both selling and seeing projects through from concept to completion.

You will manage client relationships with:

  • Childcare centers
  • HOAs and private developers

You'll excel in this role if you are self-motivated and results-driven. This role requires initiative, follow-through, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality. Our team does whatever it takes to keep customers happy.

Ongoing training, certifications, and mentorship will be provided.

Territory Ownership

  • Take full ownership of territory performance, including sales, repairs, drop shipments, and projects from start to finish.
  • Create and execute an annual territory prospecting plan.
  • Achieve agreed-upon sales goals and performance metrics.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, safety standards, competitors, and early-stage project opportunities via social media, news alerts, and AI tools.

Sales & Relationship Management

  • Establish, develop, and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Conduct prospecting calls, site visits, and customer meetings at least 3 days per week.
  • Minimum of 2 “I’m in your area” drop-ins per week.
  • Conduct regular sales presentations, product demonstrations, and lead meetings to showcase the features and services provided by Pelican Playgrounds.
  • Provide 24-hour follow-up on all leads and client communication.
  • Drive repeat business and referral relationships.

Lead & CRM Management

  • Respond to all new leads within 24 hours.
  • Enter and track all activity in CRM (Zoho).
  • Maintain organized and updated CRM, Workdrive, and Books systems.

Project Management

  • Bring strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate sales and project execution from lead intake > project sold > job closeout.
  • Work closely with internal team members, vendors, and installation crews.
  • Provide timely quotes and proposals to prospective customers
  • Lead Customer Services Projects such as replacement parts, warranties, surfacing, and repair coordination.

Travel Expectations

  • Frequent in-state travel throughout Louisiana - on the road 3+ days per week.
  • Minimum expectation of monthly travel to customers: 700–900 miles.
  • One week per month traveling to remote areas of the territory - hotels and travel paid by Pelican Playgrounds
  • Represent Pelican Playgrounds at regional conferences, trade shows, and networking events. Occasional out-of-state travel for conferences, training, and team events.
