# of Openings:  1 Platform Engineer Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises is hiring a Platform Engineer in Virginia Beach, VA. to support the design, deployment, and sustainment of resilient cloud and edge-based platform infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Kubernetes, Linux systems engineering, and cloud-native infrastructure. This role will focus on building secure, highly available, and fault-tolerant environments capable of operating in disconnected, degraded, intermittent, and low-bandwidth (DIL) environments. Job Description: The Platform Engineer will work closely with software, networking, cybersecurity, and systems engineering teams to deliver scalable and mission-focused platform solutions supporting operational requirements within the below complex environments. Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering Design and implement scalable cloud-native and multi-tier architectures Develop highly available, fault-tolerant and multi-region platforms solutions. Kubernetes Platform Engineering Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes cluses using k0s, k3s or upstream Kubernetes Optimize cluster resource utilization through requests, limits, and quotas Configure networking, ingress, and service routing within Kubernetes environments Linux Systems Engineering Administer and harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. Configure routing, DNS, and firewalling capabilities Infrastructure Automation and Platform Operations. Develop declarative provisioning workflows using Terraform or equivalent IaC tools Platform Networking & Security Observability & Monitoring Disconnected/DIL Operations Qualifications Must have a Bachelors Degree and at least 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering and Linux systems.   Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (I.e., Project and Excel). Desired Qualifications: 10 years of experience in the following areas: Combat System Engineering Mission Readiness Assessment Software Support Cybersecurity Requirements Experience supporting naval, tactical edge, air-gapped, or disconnected systems, preferred. Experience with VMware ESXi 8.x environments, preferred. Knowledge of platform security best practices and Zero Trust Concepts, preferred. Engineering or a Technical BS degree from an ABET accredited school, preferred. Engineering or a Technical AS degree from an ABET accredited school, preferred. Security Requirements: Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance and base access requirements. Travel Requirements: Less than 10% If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
