Job summary

The Sr. VP of Consulting Services (Pharmacy Benefits) is responsible for leading the firmโ€™s consulting organization, ensuring exceptional client delivery, developing consulting talent, improving operational performance, and aligning consulting strategy with the companyโ€™s growth objectives. This role works with the President to oversee team leadership, service quality, resource planning, client relationship management, and consulting practice development.ย ย 

The starting salary for this position begins at $200,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.

Summary of essential job functions/responsibilities

  • ย Oversee the overall performance, structure, and direction of the consulting team, including consultants, practice leaders, and delivery staff. Set clear expectations for performance, accountability, collaboration, and client service standards.
  • Develop and implement the consulting strategy in alignment with the companyโ€™s growth goals, service model, and market positioning. Translate executive priorities into practical plans, team initiatives, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure consulting engagements are delivered on time, on budget, and at a consistently high level of quality. Establish delivery standards, methodologies, and quality controls that improve client outcomes and protect the firmโ€™s reputation.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, mentor, and evaluate consultants and consulting leaders. Build a high-performing consulting culture focused on technical excellence, responsiveness, problem-solving, and professional growth.
  • Oversee staffing, workload balance, and resource allocation across the consulting team. Monitor utilization, productivity, and capacity to ensure the firm can scale effectively while maintaining service quality
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients and strategic accounts. Support consultants in managing client relationships, addressing complex issues, and identifying opportunities to deepen trust and expand value.
  • Partner with executive leadership and business development to shape service offerings, support proposals, participate in finalist meetings, and help convert opportunities into long-term client relationships. The role is commonly tied to business growth and stronger customer relationships.
  • Evaluate market needs, client feedback, and industry trends to improve existing consulting services and develop new offerings. Ensure the consulting practice stays relevant, differentiated, and aligned with client demand.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators for the consulting function, such as client satisfaction, retention, engagement quality, consultant performance, utilization, margin, and project outcomes. Use data to drive continuous improvement. The role is often linked to improving operational efficiency and aligning consulting efforts to company goals.
  • Collaborate with the President and other senior leaders on strategic priorities, cross-functional coordination, operational improvement, and organizational planning.
  • Step in on high-stakes client situations, consultant performance concerns, delivery breakdowns, or cross-team conflicts. Provide leadership, sound judgment, and decisive problem-solving when challenges escalate.
  • Act as a visible leader for the consulting practice through executive meetings, client presentations, industry events, and thought leadership. Help reinforce the firmโ€™s expertise, credibility, and market presence. The role is often tied to strategic client engagement and growth-oriented leadership.

Minimum requirements

  • Pharmacy degree required; PharmD or Pharmacy Residency preferred
  • A minimum of 10โ€“15+ years of professional experience, with a significant portion in pharmacy consulting or advisory roles
  • ย minimum of 5โ€“10+ years in leadership roles managing teams, projects, or business units
  • Proven track record leading complex client engagements and delivering measurable results
  • Excellent people skills; consulting or consultative experiences preferred
  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to be collaborative with strong multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment, and produce accurate results while meeting established deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and demonstrate initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
