Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resource team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with labor and tax laws, and maintaining accurate payroll records. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, accounting principles, and human resources processes. The Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in supporting our company's payroll operations and ensuring timely and accurate employee compensation.

Position Responsibilities/Major Duties

  • Process bi-weekly, weekly payroll using Paycom.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws related to payroll and taxation.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records accurately within HRIS.
  • Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues or discrepancies in a professional manner.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for general ledger posting.
  • Calculates and reconciles payroll corrections, adjustments, and retro pay.
  • Calculate wages, deductions, benefits, taxes, and other payroll-related items with precision.
  • Manage benefits administration including deductions for health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
  • Prepare reports related to payroll processing, tax filings, and labor law compliance.
  • Assist with audits related to payroll and benefits administration.
  • Collaborate with Management to ensure proper time & attendance tracking through Paycom.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax law, labor law, and accounting standards affecting payroll operations.
  • Administers Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and LOA (Leave of Absence).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of employment & labor law compliance as well as payroll tax regulations.
  • Proficient in Excel- formulas and pivot tables.
  • Experience in benefits administration.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and high ethical standards for handling confidential information.
  • Strong understanding of time & attendance systems like Paycom or equivalent is desirable.

Experience/Education Requirements

  • MUST have 3-5 years of proven experience working with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paycom, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, or Ceridian.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
