They assist attorneys with tasks such as legal research, drafting documents, case preparation, and client communication using digital tools. Remote paralegals rely on technology to securely access and manage case files, collaborate with legal teams, and meet deadlines. This role allows for flexibility and can support law firms, corporations, or independent attorneys across different locations.

What does a remote paralegal do?

As a remote paralegal, your duties are to perform legal research, prepare legal documents, and interview witnesses or experts preparing to give testimony in civil or criminal trials, arbitration, litigation, and other forms of legal administration. Some paralegals work closely with a specific attorney at a firm, providing them with significant assistance in developing a case. You complete tasks like pulling and reviewing relevant case laws and precedents, drafting legal briefs, collecting information from the client, and ensuring that you file paperwork appropriately. Other paralegals provide more general administrative support.

How to become a paralegal who works remotely?

The educational qualifications you need to become a virtual or remote paralegal vary. Many employers prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or a closely related field.
