Litigation Docket Specialist

Put your excellent customer service and attention to detail skills to work at Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States. We currently have an opening for a Litigation Docket Specialist.

The Litigation Docket Specialist is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the docket and calendar for all litigation matters handled by the firm. This role ensures that all critical dates and deadlines are accurately captured and communicated to attorneys and legal staff in a timely manner. The position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of court rules and procedures.

This is a perfect position for an experienced litigation legal assistant or paralegal looking for a change!

The hours for this position are 8:30 a.m. โ€“ 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Remote or hybrid work options are available where the firm has offices within one of the following cities, Dallas, Texas, Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Receive and review mail, deliveries, court filings, pleadings, and other legal documents to identify deadlines and docket appropriate information
  • Maintain and update the firm's docketing system, Compulaw, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries
  • Process emails within a shared central docket inbox
  • Collaborate with team on unfamiliar jurisdictions
  • Contribute to a group environment; cover for other Docket Specialists when out of office
  • Process attorney and/or legal administrative assistants e-mails to docket
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local court rules to ensure timely calendaring of litigation events and deadlines
  • Generate and distribute regular docket reports and reminders to attorneys and legal teams
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to confirm deadlines and support compliance with court requirements
  • Retrieve electronic court documents using PACER and other e-filing systems
  • Audit docketing entries for accuracy and completeness; identify and correct any discrepancies
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining docketing procedures and protocols
  • Stay current with changes in court rules and ensure timely updates to the docketing system

Experience and qualifications:

  • At least 5 years' experience in docketing, preferably using Compulaw, or litigation legal assistant/paralegal experience
  • In-depth knowledge of court rules and procedures (Federal and State). Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with electronic filing systems and legal databases (e.g., PACER)
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to docket in and learn multiple states' jurisdictions
