Job description

The Construction Security Surveillance (CSS) Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering classroom and practical training for Construction Security Surveillance personnel supporting U.S. Government construction projects. The instructor prepares students to identify security vulnerabilities, detect hostile intelligence activities, and ensure compliance with Department of State (DOS) and company security requirements.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction security, protective security operations, overseas contingency environments, or U.S. Government security programs, along with a passion for teaching and mentoring.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver Construction Security Surveillance (CSS) training programs.
  • Instruct students on CSS principles, policies, and procedures in accordance with U.S. Department of State requirements.
  • Conduct classroom lectures, practical exercises, and scenario-based training.
  • Evaluate student performance through written examinations and practical assessments.
  • Maintain accurate training records and course documentation.
  • Update course materials to reflect changes in government policies, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and coach students to ensure they meet qualification standards.
  • Ensure a safe, professional, and effective learning environment.
  • Coordinate with company leadership regarding curriculum development and training schedules.
  • Assist in developing new training programs and instructional materials as required.
  • Class sessions to be held 4-6 times per year.

Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Construction Security Surveillance, construction security, physical security, law enforcement, military, or a related security field.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense, or other U.S. Government security programs preferred.
  • Previous instructor or military training experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and classroom management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified instructor or adult learning certification.
  • Experience developing training curricula.
  • Overseas security or contingency operations experience.
  • Active or previously held U.S. Government security clearance.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Education, or a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while instructing.
  • Ability to demonstrate field exercises in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Compensation
  • $80 - $120/hr - Based on experience and qualifications.
