Job Summary
Documents and manages fiber optic network assets for inside and outside plant network. Edits and modifies network data, studies project objectives, research and develops fiber optic network techniques and approaches; validating designs; supporting project implementation in a very detail working environment using fiber optic network industry software.
Review and analyze fiber test results, including OTDR traces.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Documents, edits, and modifies records of fiber optic network assets for inside plant and outside plant operations using fiber optic network software.
Evaluates fiber optic designs' issues by studying project' concepts, objectives, priorities and requirements.
Support field teams with performing optical fiber characterization and troubleshooting network infrastructure. Interpret and analyze test results including OTDR traces, using industry standard SW.
Fully identify ISP and OSP fiber issues and provide resolution advice
Uses research and analysis of network orders, diagrams, fiber optical routes' documentation, customer databases for verification and validation of the customer fiber optics network assets' records.
Use of related industry software to include MapInfo, AutoCAD (not required), Visio, Google Earth/Maps and MS Office software.
Research and validates building address and coordinates using Google Earth/Maps to insure proper location and create building footprint using fiber optic network software.
Understanding of databases, queries, spreadsheets and schematic drawings.
Proficient in the reading & understanding of dark fiber contracts, with the ability to act on the terms set out within the contract.
Deep understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels including physical interfaces, cable types, fiber types, connector types and riser details.
Excellent organizational, project-management and communication skills
Responsible for gathering, reviewing and interpreting various data sources for comparison and validation of fiber optic network.
Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD a plus but not required.
Qualifications/Skills Abilities
Education
Bachelor's degree in related field or engineering or 3 to 5 years of telecommunication industry experience related to either inside or outside plant operations.

Understanding of fiber optics/telecom
Knowledge of fiber industry standards
Documentation of fiber optics
Analytical interpretation of fiber data, fiber test results
Experience working with EXFO Fast Reporter SW analysis tool
Understand spec drawings of fiber optics
