Job Title: Certified Medical Coder โ Outpatient & Emergency Department (ED)
Location: Bronx, NY 10461
Duration: 8 weeks with a strong possibility of extension
Schedule: MondayโFriday | 8:00 AM โ 4:00 PM | 35 Hours/Week
Work Setting: Remote after 1โ2 weeks of onsite training
Pay Rate: $36/hr. (local candidate), $1395/week (Travel)
Key Responsibilities
โข Review and assign accurate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for outpatient and emergency department encounters
โข Analyze medical records and clinical documentation to determine appropriate code assignment
โข Utilize EPIC and 3M/HDS coding applications for coding, abstraction, and charge capture activities
โข Research and resolve coding-related questions, discrepancies, and documentation issues
โข Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and coding updates
โข Support coding quality initiatives and ensure coding accuracy and productivity standards are met
โข Work independently with minimal supervision after training period
โข Assist with coder education and training activities when needed
Required Qualifications
โข High School Diploma or GED
โข CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CCP certification from AHIMA
โข RHIA or RHIT credentials accepted
โข Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience
โข Strong outpatient coding experience required
โข Emergency Department (ED) coding experience required
โข Experience using EPIC EMR and 3M coding software required
โข Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, coding guidelines, payer guidelines, and federal billing regulations
Preferred Qualifications
โข 4+ years of outpatient coding experience
โข Strong acute care hospital coding background
โข Experience training or mentoring coders
โข Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes

โข Candidates must have both EPIC and 3M experience
