The Hartford's Data Analytics and AI Office (DAIO) - and Data Platform Services (DPS) Team is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect.

The Hartford's journey to Cloud is a period of immense change - it is a critical part of this role to foster a customer first mindset and focus on work that meets the most needs of Data and Analytics users across The Hartford.

You should be passionate for innovating with new cloud and data platform technologies, designing physical architectures and engineering platform solutions with an emphasis on improving adoption and user experience. This position requires 6+ years of relevant industry, cloud and/or platform experience.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Columbus, OH) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Collaboration
    • As a technical leader you will need to analyze industry trends focused on cloud computing and data platform technologies.
    • You will be part of a team of architects working across organizational boundaries advancing DAO technical capabilities.
    • Translate these trends into actionable capabilities.
  • Current and Target State Architectures:
    • Design and Engineer target state platform architectures with reusability in mind.
    • Define strategy and roadmaps to guide transformation efforts.
    • Create architecture patterns for Cloud Data ecosystems (including AWS Cloud, PySpark, Snowflake, Tableau and ThoughtSpot).
  • Customer Collaboration
    • Collaborate with internal customers to evaluate needs and provide architectural guidance in utilizing the right products & services for solutions in support of batch/streaming, real-time, near real-time integration/ELT, structuring data for analytic consumption, cloud migrations, and supporting AI.
    • Build relationships with internal customers proactively identifying platform and technical needs supporting a business roadmap.
  • New Technology evaluations and POCs
    • Driving product evaluations, defining scoring criteria, and providing technical recommendations.
    • This will be a HANDS-ON role building IaC and Cloud platforms to support POCs of new technologies.
  • Hyper-Automation
    • Incorporation of DevOps and DataOps practices into suggested solutions to drive increased automation.
  • Driving Adoption
    • Driving technical road shows to improve adoption of services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 6 or more years of solid, diverse work experience in cloud computing, data delivery applications, analytics or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 3 years of experience providing architectural guidance and technical direction to developers, or platform administrators.
  • At least 2 years of experience (or equivalent training/certification) in designing and implementing solutions in AWS and GCP Services.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly, and perform major job responsibilities proficiently within 6-12 months
  • Experience in building applications/platforms using agile scrum methodologies
  • Strong analytical ability, problem analysis techniques, and broad knowledge of technology alternatives
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with business and IT partners

Preferred

  • Experience (or equivalent training/certification) in designing and/or implementing data delivery solutions using Data Integration Tools (Informatica, Talend etc.) and/or Data Platforms (Oracle, Snowflake, S3, RDS etc.) or Data Management (Cataloging, Lineage, Quality, MDM etc.)

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$137,200 - $205,800
