Job description

Title: EDI 834 Functional Analyst Type: Contract-to-Hire Work model: 90% Remote, 4-6 meetings yearly in Baltimore, MD Pay (W2): $47/HR

What you’ll do

You’ll help improve how day-to-day operations run by digging into processes, data, and performance metrics—then turning your findings into practical improvements. You’ll also provide leadership/mentorship to more junior analysts.

In this role, you will:

  • Review current operational processes to find gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Gather requirements by interviewing stakeholders and partnering with operations teams
  • Define and track performance measures (KPIs), benchmarking, and operational models
  • Build cost/benefit analyses and business cases to support recommendations
  • Support continuous improvement efforts with ongoing measurement, analysis, and reporting
  • Document and update policies/procedures and operational guidelines
  • Create clear analysis summaries and reports for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Lead projects and keep operational leadership informed; mentor lower-level analysts

What we’re looking for (must-haves)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or related) and:
    • 4+ years progressive experience as a Functional Analyst, OR
    • 6+ years experience in a level 2+ operational role If you don’t have a Bachelor’s degree: you’ll need an additional 4 years of relevant experience on top of the experience requirement above.
  • Hands-on knowledge of 834 file layout
  • Facets is a must-have
  • Strong skills in data analysis/testing
  • Advanced Excel (you should be very comfortable working with large data sets)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
