What are some unique challenges faced by professionals working as remote notaries and how can they prepare for them?

Remote Notaries, often referred to as Remote Online Notaries (RON), face unique challenges such as maintaining secure technology, verifying signer identities remotely, and navigating state-specific legal requirements. It’s important to stay updated with compliance regulations, invest in secure notary platforms, and communicate clearly with clients to ensure a smooth remote notarization process. Building familiarity with digital tools and participating in ongoing training can help professionals excel in this evolving field.

What is a remote oath?

A Remote Oath is a process where a person takes an official oath or affirmation remotely, often via video conference, instead of appearing in person. This is commonly used for legal, notarial, or governmental procedures where swearing in or affirming is required. Remote oaths have become more popular due to advances in technology and the need for remote services, especially during circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic. The process typically requires real-time audio-visual communication and may be subject to specific regulations depending on the jurisdiction.
