About the role:

As a Principal Licensing Engineer you will support the deployment of advanced nuclear technology, with a focus on Advanced Plant reactor projects. You will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the licensing and regulatory strategy for new nuclear plant development, ensuring compliance with domestic and international standards. You will report to the New Plants Licensing Manager for Safety Analysis, Risk Applications, and Licensing and will directly support the exciting growth in the Westinghouse Advanced Plant development globally.

Hybrid work arrangements (typically 2 days in an office) are available at one of the Westinghouse US Engineering Office locations including Cranberry Woods, PA, Glen Rose, TX, or Rock Hill, SC. Remote work arrangements will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement licensing strategies for new nuclear plant technologies, with emphasis on AP1000 and AP300 designs.
  • Support proposal development through technical input, scope definition, and schedule coordination.
  • Prepare regulatory submittals including Safety Analysis Reports, license amendment requests, and Topical Reports.
  • Be the primary liaison between Westinghouse, customers/licensees, the U.S. NRC, and international regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers on licensing deliverables and project execution.
  • Provide technical and regulatory expertise to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Deliver licensing presentations to internal and external partners.
  • Evaluate engineering design changes for regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8+ years required; typically 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (typically Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Nuclear)
  • Nuclear licensing skills like development of 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, License Amendments, and topical reports
  • Familiar w/ NRC regulations and nuclear industry guidance
  • Familiar w/ AP1000 design, operation, and work processes
  • A subject matter expert in one or technical or licensing discipline
  • Nuclear safety and customer focus outlook
  • <10% travel to support customer, industry, or regulator activities, with opportunities for additional travel, if desired.
