Applies technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in support of Carilion Clinics data warehouse and reporting initiatives. Works closely with the Business Analyst to understand information needed by business workflows to provide actionable information to make better business decisions. Works with IT resources to assist in data governance and data quality programs.
Frequently interacts with other TSG departments and internal/external customers on data requests and documents requirements for technical implementation. Utilizes analytical methods to review data in the data warehouse for integrity and adherence to established governance principles. Work environment includes hospital areas, TSG Datacenters, data closets and office settings. Must be conscience of all operational and safety procedures. Rotating shifts, including on-call support, working weekends and/or irregular long hours as well as occasional overnight travel.
Onsite is preferred, hybrid or remote work option is available. Candidates residing in the following states can be considered for remote work: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia.
  • Manage multiple, variable tasks and data review processes to support business request for data from the data warehouse with minimal supervision from supervisor and/or manager.
  • Analyzes and advises management of workflow issues and data integrity problems and offers recommendations on resolution.
  • Loads the data dictionary and business glossary with agreed upon terms, metadata, definitions, descriptions, and related values.
  • Develops reference materials (application data relationship, BI data models, etc.) for supported data processing technologies to be used for both online and in-person training of other technical staff with minimal supervision from supervisor and/or manager.
  • Manages assigned projects and meets deadlines with moderate supervision from supervisor and/or manager.
  • Assists Business Analysts with the development of training programs and materials to train end-users and mentor and develop team members.
  • Interfaces with clients, vendors, and other teams on multi-faceted projects involving data intelligence.
What We Require:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, health care systems or equivalent work experience.
Minimum four years' experience in working with enterprise data sources and BI tools in a financial or healthcare environment.
Dimensional databases, cubes and columnar data structures experience preferred.
Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation.
A minimum of one of the following certifications are required:
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP)
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral). Must have thorough understanding of the 7-layer OSI model. Data profiling and data quality analysis experience preferred. Experience translating business needs into data architecture specifications. Experience supporting application users. Experience with Business Objects, Oracle. or Cognos tools a plus. Familiarity with IBM InfoSphere and IBM data models a plus. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be customer service oriented.
