Job Title: Staff Engineer Location-Type: Hybrid (The role is 100% Remote during the contract period. When converted to Direct Hire/FTE the role will transition to 3 Days A Week Onsite at a HQ location near you; Baltimore, MD / Charlotte, NC / Wilmington, DE / Fort Worth, TX / Evansville, IN ) Start Date Is: July 2026 Duration: Contract-to-Hire (6 Months) W2 Pay Rate Range: $70/hr - $85/hr W2 Benefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, 401K Must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for sponsorship .

Job Description: Lead the technical direction of customer-facing web applications by driving architecture, modernizing cloud-based platforms, mentoring engineering teams, and delivering scalable full-stack solutions within AWS environments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture and technical direction for enterprise web applications
  • Design and modernize distributed systems and microservices
  • Develop and maintain customer-facing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
  • Partner with product, architecture, DevOps, and engineering teams to define technical requirements
  • Create and maintain system architecture documentation and technical roadmaps
  • Mentor engineers and establish engineering best practices
  • Drive cloud-native development and operational excellence within AWS
  • Support CI/CD, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and production operations
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate
  • Balance hands-on development with technical leadership responsibilities

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
  • 7–10 years of software engineering experience
  • Recent experience as a Staff Engineer, Technical Lead, or Lead Engineer
  • Strong expertise with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js
  • Deep AWS experience building and supporting cloud-native applications
  • Experience designing APIs and microservices architectures
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications
  • Strong architectural design and technical documentation skills
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives without direct authority
  • DevOps experience including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, monitoring, and production support
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate business goals into technical solutions
