Job description

TEKsystems is seeking an IP Core Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust IP/MPLS core network for a leading Alaska-based ISP. This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative, remote environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the company’s carrier-grade network infrastructure.

This position is 100% remote, working typical daytime Alaska business hours, Monday through Friday

Key Responsibilities

50% – Plan, design, implement, and document new network solutions

20% – Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams

20% – Create Engineering Estimates and Installation Packages

10% – Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Alcatel/Nokia and Juniper routers/switches
  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Familiarity with RSVP, LDP, PIM, and data center network design
  • Proficiency in Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Visio for network documentation
  • Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across departments

Preferred Certifications

Nokia: NRS I / II

Juniper: JNCIA / JNCIS

Skills Required

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
