On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

The role

As a Staff Technical Recruiter at Overstory, you'll build the team that brings our mission to life. Every hire you make directly shapes the ability to execute on our goals in our growing and scaling company. This is a hands-on role with great strategic impact. You'll balance delivering excellent day-to-day recruiting operations with shipping new features that make us ready to scale.

You'll own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles, partnering closely with hiring managers and leadership from the earliest stages of role definition through sourcing, interviewing, and closing offers. Sometimes you'll own other roles, e.g. product or go-to-market, depending on business needs. With every role you hire for, you champion our values and attract mission-driven builders who are energized by hard problems and meaningful impact.

You'll join a People team of five, where everyone is senior, trusted, and empowered to drive decisions. Together with our other Technical Recruiter, you'll build and refine the recruiting motion that helps us scale: from systems and data to brand and community. With a global team spread across 11 countries working remotely, you'll navigate local complexities with ease while keeping the overall candidate experience feeling unmistakably like Overstory. Together, we nurture a culture where everyone can be their best selves - building a workplace people love, and keeping the way we work simple, effective, and above all: human-centric.

What you'll do
  • Own full-cycle recruiting with a focus on technical roles, from role definition and sourcing through interviewing, coordinating and offer negotiation
  • Partner closely with hiring managers and leadership to understand team needs, shape role requirements, and design effective hiring strategies
  • Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines through creative sourcing, networking, and application review
  • Guide candidates through a thoughtful interview process, coordinating seamlessly across teams and timezones to ensure a positive experience
  • Build and refine the systems, processes, brand and network that make recruiting incrementally easier as we scale.
  • Use data and feedback to continuously optimize hiring practices and improve outcomes
  • Act as a culture ambassador and trusted partner, bringing in mission-driven builders who reflect Overstory's values
  • Stay flexible and pitch in across the people team as needed in our lean, fast-paced environment
About you
  • 8+ years of technical recruiting experience in high-growth tech startups
  • Proven track record closing hard-to-find technical talent, including roles like machine learning engineers or other specialized positions
  • You thrive in a fast-moving, wear-multiple-hats startup culture. You experiment, iterate, and take initiative to solve problems.
  • You're a trusted hiring partner that influences hiring decisions effectively
  • You're tech savvy and know how to apply AI to make recruiting more effective
  • You have experience building the systems and tooling to scale recruiting
  • You have worked in international, remote-first environments and have experience hiring in multiple geographies
  • You're passionate about our climate mission
  • You're based in the UK, Europe or the East Coast of North America

If you don't meet all of the above yet feel you have lots to offer, please apply anyway. We're open to hiring less experienced candidates at a Senior Technical Recruiter level.

What you get
  • To be part of truly mission-driven work that reduces wildfires, protects earth's natural resources and helps solve our climate crisis.
  • Flexible working environment with a lot of autonomy. We build our work days around our lives, not the other way around.
  • Other benefits like a remote working budget, an educational budget and time to develop new skills.
  • To be surrounded by an excellent, vibrant, smart team who have each other's back and believe in a culture of openness, tolerance and respect.
  • Equity and a competitive salary.
