Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer (.NET Core / Azure Cloud Solution) to provide technical leadership for backend and application-layer development of a portfolio of approximately 10 custom-built VA applications comprising roughly 150 UI screens and over 170,000 lines of C# code.
As Senior Software Developer supporting the VA OAA Data Management Center (DMC), you will design, build, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure, lead the SSRS-to-Power BI migration and WebForms-to-ASP.NET Core modernization within the VAEC framework, and ensure applications remain secure, stable, and compliant within the VA's active umbrella ATO (FIPS 199 Moderate). This role also provides technical direction and code review to junior developers and maintains all ATO artifacts.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, enhance, and sustain the DMC custom-built application portfolio
• Provide technical leadership for backend and application-layer development using Microsoft .NET and Azure cloud technologies
• Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure
• Ensure applications remain secure, stable, and compliant under the active VA umbrella ATO and FIPS 199 Moderate requirements
• Lead the migration of SSRS reports to Power BI
• Lead the modernization of WebForms applications to ASP.NET Core within the VAEC framework
• Design and maintain complex relational SQL Server databases and create or modify database objects using advanced T-SQL
• Maintain data dictionaries, metadata documentation, and report-to-data-source traceability
• Manage and document enterprise-level data management practices aligned with Level 4-5 CMMI target operating maturity; formal appraisal not required
• Ensure secure coding practices and support ATO vulnerability remediation
• Provide technical direction and conduct code reviews for junior developers
• Maintain all required ATO artifacts
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; no equivalencies accepted
• 8+ years of software development experience
• Significant experience with Azure cloud technologies, including Databricks, Synapse, API Management, Azure Functions, Azure App Services, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Monitor
• Experience with ASP.NET Core, C#, T-SQL, Power BI, and Kendo UI
• Proven experience leading software development projects and providing technical oversight
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced Microsoft certifications
• Federal ATO or RMF experience
Eligibility:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal Public Trust clearance for this role
Compensation:
Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.
Salary Range: $135,000 - $185,000.
