Major Responsibilities:

Provides data broker and honest broker services in a manner that ensures high quality, compliance, and security. Operates in a customer-centric manner, adhering to prevailing policies, government regulations, standard operating procedures, and industry standards.

Collaborates and maintains meaningful relationships with Information Technology to support research server and network infrastructure and promote robust data collection in research studies and initiatives.

Develops efficient processes for intaking, prioritizing, managing, and delivering data requests for research. Monitors project progress against estimated timeliness and resource allocations.

Proactively identifies and addresses variances between estimated and actual hours spent on project tasks. Collaborates and maintains relationships regarding data request services with academic research, biorepository services, clinical trials and graduate medical education.

Provides programming services to develop specialized software that serves the needs of research and key infrastructure.

Identifies opportunities to develop new or enhance existing infrastructure or processes to enhance external funding, deliver value or improve the experience of researchers.

Works with leaders, research scientists and clinician investigators to understand and document research study needs and project aims from clinical, research and technical perspectives. Develops budgets and budget narratives. Contributes to grant submissions in collaboration with study teams.

Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Epic Cogito Clinical Data Model certification issued by Epic obtained within 180 days.


Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.


Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in business analysis and research. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in management of staff, budgets, and multiple functions at the supervisor or manager level.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Strong experience with data reporting, data integration or data warehousing and management.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking, creativity, and ability to effectively integrate varied components of a system.
  • Proficient in SQL and data manipulation techniques through statistically oriented programming languages (e.g., R, Python).
  • Fluency in HIPAA data privacy regulations and standards, and the roles of Honest Brokers.
  • Experience with the grant funding life cycle and data needs at various stages.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Excellent analysis and case building skills, verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy skills and sound judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) or similar products.
  • Demonstrated team builder, player, facilitator, and leader.
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving, creativity, and strategy development skills in dealing with competitive challenges in the marketplace.
