NBBJย Columbus is seeking an experiencedย Systemsย Engineerย to join our talented Digital Infrastructure team. In your new role, you will:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:ย 

  • Manage enterpriseย virtualizationย andย storage platformsย includingย VMware, HPE storage systems, and related capacity, performance, replication, and lifecycle planning.ย 
  • Monitorย storageย health,ย utilization, throughput, latency, and growth trends;ย identifyย risks early and recommend remediation before business operations are affected.ย 
  • Administer and improve backup, recovery, and retention services using Commvault, with emphasis on restore validation, ransomware resilience, and disaster recovery readiness.ย 
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems and develop practical, sustainable solutions.ย 
  • Provide escalation support for systems administrators, engineers, and internal support teams.ย 
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and cross-train team members to improve knowledge sharing and operational resilience.ย 
  • Plan, design, build, andย maintainย highly available, reliable, and scalable virtualized server platforms.ย 
  • Learn, evaluate, and integrate evolving infrastructure technologies with existing systems.ย 
  • Partner with vendors to evaluate product offerings, resolve technical issues, and support procurement decisions.ย 
  • Document workflows, processes, procedures, configurations, and infrastructure service use cases.ย 
  • Participate in a team on-call rotation.ย 
  • Work extended hours when needed for critical outages, serious incidents, or disaster recovery events.ย 
  • Travel occasionally,ย generally lessย than two weeks per year.ย 

What you will need to succeed:

  • At least seven years of relevant systems engineering experience in a mid-sized, multilocation enterprise environment.ย 
  • Direct, recent, hands-on professional experience with the following:ย 
  • Virtualization platforms,ย preferablyย VMware, and HPEย GreenLake.ย 
  • Microsoft Windows Server management, failover clusters, and file servers on currently supported versions.ย 
  • Enterprise storage administration,ย preferablyย VMware, and HPE storage platforms.ย 
  • Backup and recovery platforms, preferably Commvault, including backup policy design, restore validation, retention, and disaster recovery support.ย 
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID in a multisite environment.ย 
  • Server security hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation.ย 
  • Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and related protocols, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, and SSL.ย 
  • Methodical, analytical approach to troubleshooting.ย 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, andย project managementย skills.ย 
  • High degree of autonomy, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with peers and customers.ย 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced, collaborative environment.ย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • Commvault administration, reporting, automation, and troubleshooting.ย 
  • Linux server administration, including storage-oriented administration and ZFS concepts.ย 
  • HPE server, storage, and firmware lifecycle management.ย 
  • Microsoft Azure infrastructure services.ย 
  • Microsoft SQL Server administration or support.ย 
  • Microsoft PKI management.ย 
  • Citrix Virtual Apps andย Desktopsย and Citrix ADC.ย 
  • Atlassian Jira and Agile project management practices.ย 

This role requires the individual to be based in the United States. This role is fully remote*, and the ideal candidate is located within a 2 hour radius of the Columbus, Ohio office located at: 250 S. High Street, Suite 300, Columbus, Ohio 43215.ย 

The annual base pay range for this role is anticipated to be between $100,000 and $120,000. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.

*Some travel may be requested due to studio and office needs - all travel will be coordinated with NBBJ's internal travel team, and the team member will discuss travel arrangements in advance with their studio team and leaders.ย
