Understanding these differences helps job seekers target the right roles based on their skills and career goals.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote monetization roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote monetization roles often face challenges such as coordinating across time zones, ensuring effective communication with cross-functional teams (like product, marketing, and engineering), and staying updated with rapidly changing digital monetization trends. Addressing these challenges involves utilizing robust collaboration tools, establishing clear communication protocols, and dedicating time for regular market research and team updates. Proactively seeking feedback and fostering transparency can also help build trust and improve outcomes in a remote setting.

What is Remote Monetization?

Remote monetization refers to strategies and practices that individuals or businesses use to generate income or revenue online from a remote location. This can involve a variety of methods such as affiliate marketing, digital product sales, online advertising, SaaS subscriptions, and more. The main goal is to earn money without being tied to a physical office or location, often leveraging digital tools and platforms. Remote monetization is increasingly popular due to the flexibility and global reach it offers, allowing people to work from anywhere. Common examples include running an e-commerce store, creating online courses, or offering freelance services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Monetization Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Monetization Specialist, you need expertise in digital marketing, data analytics, and revenue optimization, typically supported by a background in business, marketing, or related fields. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, A/B testing platforms, ad management systems, and sometimes certifications in digital marketing are highly valuable. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and adaptability help you collaborate across teams and identify new revenue opportunities. These skills are essential for maximizing digital revenue streams and ensuring sustained growth in a competitive online environment.

About the Role:
As the Product Manager, Monetization & Growth, you will own key product experiences that drive customer acquisition, conversion, monetization, expansion, and retention across Crunchbase's product-led growth motion.
This role is responsible for the systems, experiences, and business levers that help customers discover value, choose plans, convert, expand usage, administer teams, and remain engaged over time. Core areas of ownership include pricing and packaging, self-serve growth experiences, enterprise administration capabilities, billing and subscription experiences, and adjacent monetization opportunities.
This role combines strong product judgment, analytical rigor, and experimentation. You will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Revenue, Finance, and GTM teams to identify growth opportunities, optimize conversion funnels, and build scalable monetization systems that improve both customer experience and business outcomes.
Pricing & Packaging remains a foundational component of the role, but the broader focus is ownership of the product experiences and systems that drive sustainable growth and revenue.
What You'll Do:
  • Monetization Strategy & Product Ownership
    • Own product experiences and systems that influence acquisition, conversion, monetization, expansion, and retention
    • Develop and evolve monetization strategies across pricing, packaging, subscriptions, billing, and account growth experiences
    • Identify opportunities to improve customer value realization while driving business growth
    • Prioritize initiatives based on customer impact, revenue opportunity, and strategic alignment
  • Pricing, Packaging & Subscription Management
    • Lead the design, testing, and optimization of pricing and packaging models across products and customer segments
    • Own product requirements and execution for pricing, packaging, billing, checkout, upgrade, downgrade, and cancellation experiences
    • Partner with Engineering and Finance to ensure accurate implementation of monetization systems and policies
    • Monitor pricing performance and recommend changes based on customer behavior, market dynamics, and business goals
  • Self-Serve Growth & Conversion Optimization
    • Own self-service growth opportunities across the customer journey, including acquisition, onboarding, activation, conversion, and expansion
    • Identify and optimize friction points within key conversion funnels
    • Partner with Marketing and Revenue teams to improve growth experiences across web, product, and lifecycle touchpoints
    • Evaluate emerging opportunities such as AI search, answer engine optimization (AEO), and new customer acquisition channels
  • Enterprise Administration & Expansion Experiences
    • Own enterprise administration capabilities that support team management, user provisioning, permissions, billing administration, and account governance
    • Partner with Revenue and Customer Success teams to identify opportunities that improve account expansion and team adoption
    • Improve administrative experiences that support both self-service and sales-assisted customer motions
  • Data, Experimentation & Insights
    • Leverage analytics, experimentation, and AI-powered tools to understand customer behavior, usage patterns, conversion drivers, and pricing sensitivity
    • Define success metrics and monitor business performance across monetization and growth initiatives
    • Use data and customer research to identify opportunities and validate product decisions
    • Utilize AI-enabled tools to accelerate research, analysis, experimentation, and product development workflows
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Revenue Operations, Marketing, Finance, Sales, and Customer Success to deliver growth and monetization initiatives
    • Align stakeholders around priorities, success metrics, and business outcomes
    • Communicate product strategy, tradeoffs, progress, and results to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
What Crunchbase Offers:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience with ownership of monetization, pricing, growth, billing, subscriptions, or related product areas
    • Ideally includes owning payment or billing systems at meaningful scale (e.g. $10M+ ARR)
  • Experience optimizing self-service customer journeys, including onboarding, conversion, checkout, upgrade, expansion, and retention experiences
    • Bonus points for candidates who have architected and launched new pricing tiers or usage based models
  • Experience with subscription, usage-based, or hybrid SaaS business models
  • Experience leveraging experimentation, analytics, and customer research to drive product decisions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Revenue, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Success teams
  • Experience with enterprise administration, account management, team management, or governance capabilities preferred
  • Domain expertise in SaaS, data platforms, sales intelligence, fintech, venture, or marketplace businesses preferred
  • Strong understanding of product-led growth, monetization, pricing, packaging, and subscription business models
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable product insights
  • Experience designing and optimizing customer journeys, conversion funnels, and growth experiences
  • Understanding of experimentation frameworks and data-driven product decision making
  • Strong product management fundamentals, including discovery, prioritization, delivery, and measurement
  • Ability to balance customer experience, business outcomes, and technical constraints
  • Demonstrated curiosity and comfort using AI tools to improve productivity, research, and decision making
