Job description

Remote Project Manager – Data Center (Owner's Representative)

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with data center and owner's representative experience to act as a virtual extension of the owner's internal project team. You will manage multiple data center programs concurrently, drive best practices in design and construction, and ensure projects meet strict quality, cost, and schedule requirements. This is a 100% remote position with occasional site visits and a clear path from a 12-month contract into a potential long-term role, supported by comprehensive benefits and retirement options.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an owner's representative and virtual extension of the internal data center project team, building immediate and close relationships to fully understand project requirements, goals, constraints, and overall business objectives.
  • Apply project management best practices and innovative approaches to improve efficiency across design, construction, and operational transition processes for data center projects.
  • Ensure all projects comply with established standards for quality, optimal cost structure, and on-time delivery, integrating these standards into the overall project framework.
  • Support centralized internal teams by maintaining project-level schedule and cost controls, and provide timely, accurate reporting in line with defined requirements.
  • Manage multiple data center programs concurrently, effectively balancing priorities and resources to deliver successful outcomes across all active engagements.
  • Oversee and coordinate construction management activities, including monitoring progress, addressing issues, and supporting the transition from construction to operations.
  • Handle Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring they are logged, tracked, resolved, and communicated clearly to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage change orders and submittals, including review, documentation, coordination, and communication with owners and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with owners and stakeholders, communicating project status, risks, and changes clearly and professionally.
  • Use Primavera P6 to develop, maintain, and update project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and stakeholder expectations.
  • Adapt responsibilities as needed to support successful program planning and execution, maintaining a flexible mindset and proactively addressing emerging needs.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and program stakeholders to support any activities required to achieve project and program objectives.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3 years of experience working on data center projects.
  • Demonstrated owner's representative background, acting on behalf of an owner or internal project team.
  • Proven experience handling RFIs, including tracking, coordination, and resolution.
  • Proven experience managing change orders and submittals and communicating their impact to owners and stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 for project scheduling and control.
  • Strong project management skills, including schedule management, cost control, and reporting.
  • Experience in construction or construction management within a data center environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs concurrently and balance competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with owners, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to align projects with defined standards for quality, cost, and on-time delivery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting the operational transition process from construction to live data center operations.
  • Background in implementing best practices and innovative solutions in design and construction workflows.
  • Experience working with centralized internal project or program teams in a remote capacity.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adapting responsibilities to meet evolving program needs.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including building trust and maintaining close working relationships with owners and program teams.
  • Interest in a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term engagement.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying aligned with project objectives and team expectations.

Work Environment

This position is 100% remote and allows you to work from any location, providing flexibility while supporting complex data center projects. Occasional site visits may be required, potentially about once a month for a few days, although this frequency is not fixed and may vary based on project needs. You will collaborate virtually with centralized internal teams and stakeholders, using tools such as Primavera P6 and other project management platforms to manage schedules, costs, and reporting. The role is structured as a 12-month contract-to-hire position, with the possibility of extension beyond the initial term. The opportunity includes access to medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as 401(k) options, creating a supportive and stable work environment for long-term growth.
