What to know:
A direct client is seeking a senior Techno-Functional Microsoft Dynamics consultant to support a large-scale migration from NAV 2017 to Business Central. This is a hands-on role focused on helping guide technical decisions, development standards, data structures, customizations, and modernization efforts throughout the migration lifecycle.
The client has completed NAV implementations in the past and has a strong understanding of their business processes and desired future state. They are working with a Microsoft partner that is handling API and integration architecture, but need an experienced NAV-to-BC specialist who has successfully navigated these migrations and can provide deep expertise around AL development, Business Central architecture, configuration, customizations, and modernization of legacy NAV functionality.
The ideal consultant will be equally comfortable discussing functional requirements with business stakeholders while rolling up their sleeves to perform technical design, code reviews, development, troubleshooting, and solution optimization.
Day to Day
  • Lead and support the migration effort from NAV 2017 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Analyze existing NAV customizations and develop modernization strategies for Business Central.
  • Convert and redesign legacy C/AL customizations into AL extensions and Business Central best practices.
  • Provide hands-on development support including AL coding, configuration, scripting, table design, and solution optimization.
  • Assist with data structure reviews, table relationships, extension architecture, and application design.
  • Advise on Business Central limitations and opportunities related to SQL access, reporting, and data management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and implementation partners to ensure successful integration and migration outcomes.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and go-live readiness activities.
  • Provide guidance around Business Central integration patterns and API-based architecture.
  • Serve as a technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle, helping the organization avoid common migration pitfalls.
Must-Have:
  • Multiple successful migrations from Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Strong hands-on AL development experience.
  • Previous experience converting C/AL customizations into AL extensions.
