Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Business Intelligence Subject Matter Expert (SME) - MicroStrategy (Senior).
The selected candidate will provide enterprise reporting and analytics expertise in support of mission-critical applications and data environments. This role requires deep technical knowledge of the MicroStrategy platform, business intelligence architecture, AWS cloud-hosted BI solutions, and data warehousing best practices. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders, developers, database administrators, and government personnel to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing reporting and analytics capabilities in a federal environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise business intelligence solutions using the MicroStrategy platform (v11.x).
  • Develop and support reports, dashboards, scorecards, and advanced data visualizations to meet mission and operational reporting requirements.
  • Perform MicroStrategy administration activities including metadata management, security configuration, user administration, and platform optimization.
  • Support SQL Server data warehouse environments, including database design, stored procedures, query optimization, and data integration activities.
  • Collaborate with ETL teams supporting AWS-based data pipelines using AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
  • Maintain and support AWS cloud-hosted BI infrastructure and environments.
  • Configure and support IIS web server environments for MicroStrategy Web deployment.
  • Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and reporting issues across BI environments.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security, privacy, and data governance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10+ years of enterprise business intelligence development and administration experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience with MicroStrategy platform (v11.x) development and administration.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Report development
    • Dashboard design
    • Data visualization
    • MicroStrategy metadata administration
  • Strong proficiency with:
    • SQL Server data warehouse architecture
    • ETL processes
    • AWS Glue
    • AWS Lambda
    • AWS Step Functions
    • Stored procedures
  • Experience supporting AWS cloud-hosted BI environments.
  • Familiarity with IIS web server configuration for MicroStrategy Web deployment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Security Requirements
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 (T3) or higher background investigation and Position of Trust determination in accordance with DoDI 5200.02

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or federal civilian agencies.
  • Experience supporting highly sensitive or mission-critical data systems.
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST, and federal cybersecurity compliance standards.
  • Strong customer engagement and stakeholder communication skills.
