Job description

POSITION: Web Content Intern 

DIVISION: Content & Community Engagement (CCE) 

LOCATION: Alexandria, VA 

SEMESTER: Summer/Fall 2026 

NOTE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Internwill be assigned to the Content & Community Engagement team and will fulfill one or more ofthe following duties with the potential to take on additional responsibilities:  

  • Collaborate with web, design, communications and content teams to support the launch and optimization of a large-scale website project. 
  • Assist with migrating and organizing existing website content. 
  • Assist with the development and organization of new website content using established templates and brand guidelines 
  • Research and strategize ways to use AI tools to improve the web content development process.  
  • Review web pages for quality assurance, including proofreading, link testing, formatting consistency and accessibility considerations 
  • Participate in brainstorming and project planning sessions and contribute ideas for improving content presentation and audience engagement 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Completed at least two (2) years of college with a concentration in Web Development & Multimedia; or Communications  
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale 
  • Experience with web content management systems a plus  
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze written materials 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information 

SALARY: 

  • Internships are unpaid, however Interns will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience and will receive academic credit through an approved program of their college/university. Interns will be reimbursed for parking or public transportation expenses. 

HOURS: 

  • The Web Content Intern is required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Based on necessity and the intern’s performance there may be the opportunity to work over the course of multiple semesters/seasons. Interns will be excused to attend internship program functions and for academic holidays or vacations.
