Job description

Overview
LMI seeks an experienced Data Governance Specialist to support the U.S. Army's Holistic Health & Fitness (H2F) initiative as a member of the Data Management functional team within the H2F Program Support Team.
The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for supporting the definition, implementation, and enforcement of data governance practices for data used within the Holistic Health and Fitness Management System (H2FMS). This role ensures that data supporting scientific analysis, analytics, and user engagement activities are well-defined, properly managed, compliant, and fit for purpose.
The Data Governance Specialist works closely with the Technical Project Manager, data engineers, data scientists, epidemiologists, research psychologists, and software teams to ensure data assets are consistently defined, governed, and documented in accordance with Government direction. This role focuses on governance enablement and coordination, not independent policy-setting or system ownership.
LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.
Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors-helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.
Responsibilities
  • Support development and implementation of data governance practices for data used across H2FMS analytics, research, and reporting.
  • Assist in defining data ownership, stewardship roles, and governance workflows under Government direction.
  • Ensure governance practices align with H2F objectives and support cross-functional use of data.
  • Support creation and maintenance of data definitions, data dictionaries, metadata, and reference standards.
  • Ensure consistent use of data definitions across scientific, analytic, and software teams.
  • Coordinate with data engineers and analysts to ensure metadata and documentation remain current and accurate.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing data quality issues, including completeness, consistency, and usability.
  • Support definition of data lifecycle practices, including data onboarding, updates, retention, and archival under Government guidance.
  • Help ensure data used for analytics and decision support is traceable and well-documented.
  • Coordinate with analytics, research, and software teams to ensure governance requirements are understood and implemented.
  • Support translation of scientific and analytic data needs into governance artifacts and documentation.
  • Assist the TPM in tracking governance-related tasks, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Contribute to governance documentation, standard operating procedures, and reference materials.
  • Support adherence to applicable Government data governance, privacy, and usage requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of briefings and materials that communicate data governance practices to stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting data governance, data management, or data stewardship activities.
  • Familiarity with data standards, metadata management, and data quality concepts.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams spanning data, analytics, and software development.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data governance efforts in government or large-scale organizational environments.
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms, data pipelines, or data cataloging tools.
  • Experience working with scientific or research-driven data sets.
  • Prior experience supporting DoW or federal customers.

Location & Travel
  • Duty Location: This position may be performed in a remote or hybrid capacity.
  • Travel: Limited travel to Fort Eustis, Virginia or LMI Headquarters may be required to support planning, integration, or stakeholder engagement.

Target salary range: $85,986 - $145,154
