Remote Merchandiser information

What is a remote merchandiser?

A Remote Merchandiser is a professional responsible for managing the display, promotion, and organization of products for a retailer or brand without being physically present in the store. They use digital tools and communication to coordinate with store staff, analyze sales data, and ensure that products are presented effectively to drive sales. Remote Merchandisers frequently review inventory, update product listings, and provide feedback to improve visual merchandising strategies. This role is ideal for those with strong organizational skills and a good eye for detail, especially in e-commerce or multi-location retail environments.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote merchandiser?

To thrive as a Remote Merchandiser, you need strong analytical skills, retail merchandising experience, and a solid understanding of sales trends, typically supported by a degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with planogram software, inventory management systems, and data analytics tools is commonly required. Excellent organization, communication, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for collaborating with teams and managing tasks independently. These abilities ensure effective product placement, accurate inventory tracking, and optimal sales performance in a remote work environment.

How does a remote merchandiser collaborate with in-store teams and vendors?

As a remote merchandiser, collaboration with in-store teams and vendors is usually accomplished through regular virtual meetings, detailed planogram instructions, and digital reporting tools. You’ll coordinate with store managers and staff via email, video calls, and shared platforms to communicate merchandising standards and troubleshoot challenges. Additionally, you may use photo documentation and real-time feedback apps to verify compliance and address issues quickly. Building strong relationships and maintaining clear communication are key to ensuring that merchandising strategies are properly executed, even when working from a distance.

We're growing, and we're currently looking for a Senior Manager of Marketplace Partnerships to join us.

About The Role

Reachdesk is looking for a commercially driven Senior Manager of Marketplace Partnerships to shape the next phase of growth for our global marketplace and elevate its quality, differentiation, and profitability.
Building on the strength of our existing marketplace, you will identify, develop, and launch new partnerships with leading consumer brands. The role involves establishing relationships with prospective partners, crafting partnership propositions, negotiating agreements, and driving opportunities from initial engagement through successful launch.

You will also deepen existing vendor relationships, improve commercial terms, identify category and geographic gaps, and expand our marketplace across priority regions.
The ideal candidate combines the relationship-building ability of a strategic partnerships leader, the commercial judgment of a category owner, and the entrepreneurial drive to create new sources of profitable, scalable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a marketplace partnership strategy and scalable processes focused on acquiring leading national, regional, and global consumer brands.
  • Own growth, revenue, and profitability targets across a marketplace partner portfolio, including the performance of newly launched brands.
  • Work directly with clients and draw on market trends and platform data to identify category, assortment, and geographic opportunities.
  • Build and manage a prioritized pipeline across gifts, food and beverage, experiences, branded merchandise, and other relevant categories.
  • Source, engage, and secure strategic brand and vendor partners.
  • Develop compelling partner propositions and select the right model, whether direct or through distributors, aggregators, suppliers, or regional partners.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing, margins, discounts, rebates, payment terms, service levels, minimum commitments, and other commercial terms.
  • Lead partnerships from initial engagement through launch and ongoing performance, removing barriers that could affect quality, reliability, speed, or customer experience.
  • Strengthen existing vendor relationships through performance reviews, renegotiations, growth plans, and corrective action where needed.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Experience and work directly with clients to drive marketplace adoption and transaction volume.

About You

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in online marketplace or merchant partnerships, strategic vendor management, or commercial category management involving consumer brands, gifting, branded merchandise, or related retail categories.
  • A proven record of personally sourcing, securing, and launching strategic brand or vendor partnerships while consistently achieving revenue and profitability targets.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, with a proven ability to secure favorable pricing, margins, payment terms, service levels, and broader commercial agreements.
  • Ability to identify marketplace gaps and shape category and assortment opportunities using client input, platform data, and market trends.
  • Experience managing partnerships from initial outreach and negotiation through contracting, onboarding, launch, and ongoing performance.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the executive presence to engage senior leaders at leading brands, prospective clients, and existing customers.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including assessing partner economics, improving commercial terms, and building business cases.
  • Excellent project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple negotiations and launches while resolving day-to-day challenges.
  • A person who is entrepreneurial, resourceful, collaborative, and who leads from the front, tests new ideas quickly, and builds scalable processes that accelerate growth.
  • International marketplace or geographic expansion experience is a plus.

The Benefits

  • Competitive salary with generous stock options
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance, including mental health support and fast access to care
  • Flexible PTO that increases the longer you're with us, plus extra flexibility for life's unexpected moments
  • A genuinely collaborative culture with innovative, fun, and ambitious people

*Reachdesk believes a diverse team helps us achieve our mission faster, and we actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Compensation is based on standardized salary ranges by role, level, and location-benchmarked against similar-size companies. Final offers reflect a mix of factors including experience, skills, and role fit, and may vary from the listed range.
