About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our team as Subrogation Negotiator. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of negotiating, settling, and resolving auto property damage claims with adverse parties, including third-party carriers, individuals, and customer carriers in Canada. You will ensure timely and accurate recovery outcomes, support liability decision-making, and provide knowledgeable guidance to customers. The role directly impacts customer satisfaction and organizational recovery performance.
What You'll Do
  • Evaluate and assess new and existing accounts and initiate recovery efforts through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Negotiate and secure recovery from at-fault carriers, individuals, and customer carriers.
  • Process uninsured motorist claims and evaluate for legal/collections referral.
  • Locate adverse parties and evaluate financial capability.
  • Determine next action: arbitration, suit, collections, or closure.
  • Understand subrogation processes, regulations, and statutes.
  • Maintain knowledge of US and Canadian claims processes and understanding of repair/estimating processes.
  • Communicate with customer contacts and drivers.
  • Participate in customer meetings and provide guidance.
  • Coordinate liability disputes with customer carriers.

Basic Qualifications
  • College degree and 2+ year insurance industry experience or 4+ years Subrogation claims or negotiations experience required.
  • Skilled in MS Office
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, consideration of our customers public image, and industry knowledge while exhibiting strong negotiation capabilities to generate maximum recovery.
  • Must be able to handle difficult conversations and exhibit conflict management skills.
  • Position affords a considerable degree of independence and strong time management skills are necessary.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: College/University degree preferred.
  • Estimating or ICar Training/knowledge is preferred.
  • Canadian claims experience is beneficial.
  • CSRP - Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional Designation a plus.

Compensation
The hiring base salary range for this position is $60,400 - $83,050 annually. This range represents the Company's good-faith estimate of the expected base salary at the time of posting. Salary ranges may vary based on the geographic location where the work is performed. The salary range listed in this posting applies only to the location identified. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including the successful candidate's qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience, internal pay equity, and relevant market data. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in annual incentive programs, including bonuses, commissions, or other incentive compensation, as applicable to the role.
