About Us:

James Fisher Technologies (JFT) is a reputable provider of remote solutions, specialty engineering, and technical services for applications within hazardous environments. In other words, we get things done for the nuclear industry. Everyone at JFT has the chance to forge their career in an environment that values initiative, persistence, respect, curiosity, and passion.

JFT is growing and looking for experienced Mechanical Engineers to join our team in Loveland, CO.

JFT offers some work from home flexibility, but candidates must be within commuting distance to the office. The anticipated closing date for this posting is 6/1/26 and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Job Function:

The role of the Mechanical Engineer III is to support their team by developing engineering solutions from concept through detail design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and installation.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

As a ME III, you will produce and develop design concepts from basic specifications with limited supervision and transform these concepts into working engineering solutions. You will create manufacturing detail drawings that incorporate limits and fits, welding symbols, geometric tolerances, and surface finishes, as well as provide full engineering calculations to support designs.

Other responsibilities include providing technical files in accordance with contract and quality program requirements, specifying components and systems based on calculations and practical experience, and supporting change control and variations within contracts. You will also collaborate with a design team and interact with other engineering disciplines.

You will use your expertise to support project engineering leads and project managers with technical knowledge, ensuring adherence to established processes and procedures. Additionally, assisting business development with quotations, driving cost-saving innovations to reduce design time, and managing CAD data and documentation are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of engineering and design experience.
  • Nuclear or high hazardous remote special purpose machinery design experience a plus.
  • Professional Engineer or working towards achieving.
  • Experience with calculations (FEA, stress/fatigue/vibration analysis) preferred.
  • Knowledge of drawing principles and standards, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Must have working knowledge of complex mechanical equipment and fabrications, manufacturing techniques, materials and processes.
  • Ability to operate both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D design (Inventor and Vault system/SolidWorks) software packages.
  • Knowledge of relevant EH&S legislation, basic business acumen and commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of EFD'S, P&ID's and MFD's and designing equipment under ISO 9001 or NQA-1 Quality Assurance Programs.

Typical Working Conditions:

Primarily an office environment with work periodically performed in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. Depending on the project, there may be occasional travel to customer job sites. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors is essential. May occasionally lift and carry objects, materials, or equipment, typically under 50 pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling to access and inspect equipment or systems may also be necessary.

ACCESS TO RESTRICTED INFORMATION: This role requires immediate and routine access to restricted information under federal law. Under applicable DOE orders and client contracts, non-U.S. citizens (including lawful permanent residents) may require an approved DOE Foreign National Visit/Assignment (FNVA) before starting work. Because this position requires immediate access, JFT cannot initiate or sponsor new FNVA processes. Hiring is contingent on the candidate's eligibility to access all required information and facilities as of the start date. All offers are subject to applicable licensing, training, and other client or government requirements. JFT does not sponsor employment visas. Hiring decisions are based solely on access requirements and project timing, not on citizenship, immigration status, or national origin. JFT is an equal opportunity employer.

JFT participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 Information to confirm you are authorized to work in the U.S.

A criminal history background check will be obtained pre-employment.
