We are looking for a 3D Material Artists with a strong artistic eye and a passion for crafting high quality, game-ready materials. You will join an experienced team on a long-term project, working closely with Environment Art, Concept Art, and Engineering to develop materials that are visually compelling and faithful to the project's artistic direction.

Some of the cool stuff you'll be doing:

  • Create and maintain a wide range of PBR materials and surface treatments that support and elevate the project's visual direction
  • Build and manage Substance Designer graphs for both tileable materials, trims, and surface detail
  • Collaborate with Environment Artists to ensure materials are integrated consistently and effectively across in-game environments
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of material workflows, standards, and libraries
  • Track and address material-related bugs during production and post production

Requirements

What you'll bring to the table:

  • A strong portfolio with recent workdemonstrating an artistic approach to material and surface creation across a variety of styles and real-world surface types (**must submit to be considered**)
  • 3+ years of experience in video game production with at least one shipped title
  • Strong grasp of composition, color theory, and the physical properties of real-world surfaces.
  • Proficiency in Substance Designer and Substance Painter
  • Solid understanding of PBR workflows and material creation pipelines
  • Technical proficiency in game art workflows including UV layout, texel density, and texture optimization
  • Strong proactive collaboration and communication skills

This is a fully remote ongoing contract only position. At this time, this position is not available to California residents.
