  • Work Location: Field Based/Remote within Assigned District
  • Travel Requirements: Frequent travel required throughout the assigned district. Position requires regular travel to assigned stores, leadership meetings, inventory audits, new store openings, training events, community engagement activities, and other business-related functions. Overnight travel may be required.

Position Summary

The Regional Marketing Director - Texas serves as the senior marketing executive responsible for driving profitable sales growth, market expansion, customer engagement, and brand excellence throughout HobbyTown's Texas region. This executive leader develops and executes comprehensive regional marketing strategies that align with corporate objectives while translating national initiatives into high-impact local execution across corporate and franchise operations.


This position provides strategic leadership for all aspects of regional marketing, including customer acquisition, customer retention, community engagement, promotional planning, digital marketing execution, vendor partnerships, grand openings, experiential marketing, public relations, and regional brand stewardship. The Regional Marketing Director serves as the primary marketing advisor to executive leadership, Corporate District Managers, Store Directors, and Franchise Owners, ensuring that every marketing investment contributes measurable value to revenue growth, profitability, and long-term customer loyalty.


Success in this role requires an executive capable of balancing strategic planning with operational execution, leveraging data analytics to inform decision-making, developing high-performing partnerships across multiple business functions, and continually identifying innovative opportunities to strengthen HobbyTown's position as the leading specialty hobby retailer throughout Texas.


DUTIES

Regional Business Strategy & Commercial Leadership

  • Maintain full accountability for the financial performance, operational effectiveness, and overall success of all assigned corporate-owned stores.
  • Lead achievement of district sales, profitability, labor, inventory, and operational performance objectives while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and growth strategies.
  • Analyze financial reports, operational metrics, district performance trends, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and drive business improvement.
  • Develop and execute district-level business plans designed to improve sales performance, customer engagement, profitability, operational execution, and market growth.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews with Store Directors to evaluate performance, establish priorities, address performance gaps, and ensure accountability for results.
  • Ensure all stores operate within established labor budgets, profitability targets, inventory expectations, and operational standards.
  • Drive sustainable business growth through disciplined execution, strategic planning, leadership development, and financial stewardship.

Financial Stewardship & Budget Accountability

  • Develop and administer regional marketing budgets exceeding seven figures while ensuring responsible stewardship of company resources. 
  • Forecast annual marketing expenditures and monitor financial performance against budget. 
  • Analyze campaign profitability using sales attribution models, customer acquisition costs, lifetime customer value, and return-on-investment metrics. 
  • Maximize cooperative vendor funding opportunities and negotiate regional marketing investments. 
  • Prioritize marketing expenditures based upon measurable business impact and strategic priorities. 
  • Provide quarterly financial forecasts and budget recommendations to executive leadership.

Multi-Unit Leadership & Operational Partnership

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for community engagement, market development, customer outreach, brand visibility, and local market growth initiatives across all assigned locations.
  • Ensure Store Directors actively position their stores as destination locations for hobby enthusiasts, families, educators, collectors, gamers, makers, community organizations, and customers throughout their respective markets.
  • Provide executive marketing leadership for all Texas Corporate Stores and Franchise locations. 
  • Build collaborative partnerships with Corporate District Managers, Regional Directors, Franchise Owners, and Store Directors to ensure consistent execution of company initiatives. 
  • Conduct regular market visits to evaluate brand standards, merchandising effectiveness, promotional execution, customer experience, and local marketing opportunities. 
  • Coach operational leaders on marketing strategy, customer engagement, and community partnership development. 
  • Support operational leadership during periods of accelerated growth, acquisitions, relocations, remodels, and new store openings. 
  • Influence operational decision-making through market intelligence and customer analytics.
  • Develop and execute district-level community engagement strategies designed to increase customer acquisition, customer retention, market penetration, brand awareness, customer loyalty, and overall business growth.
  • Foster a culture of community involvement by ensuring stores maintain meaningful relationships with schools, educational institutions, hobby organizations, gaming groups, community centers, clubs, nonprofit organizations, youth programs, local businesses, and other community stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships that strengthen HobbyTown's market presence, expand customer reach, support educational initiatives, promote hobby participation, and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Ensure community events and engagement activities are professionally planned, effectively promoted, operationally successful, financially responsible, and aligned with company objectives and brand standards.
  • Monitor participation levels, customer feedback, event performance, community partnerships, and market development efforts to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support Store Directors in developing localized marketing strategies, customer engagement programs, community outreach plans, and partnership opportunities that strengthen customer relationships and drive business performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Merchandising, and Executive Leadership teams to execute district-wide promotional campaigns, customer engagement initiatives, brand awareness programs, and market expansion strategies.
  • Analyze market conditions, demographic trends, customer behaviors, competitive activity, and community needs to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and increased market share.
  • Promote consistency in brand representation and customer engagement practices across all assigned locations while ensuring stores effectively communicate HobbyTown's mission, values, products, and community-focused culture.
  • Serve as a visible and influential representative of HobbyTown leadership throughout the assigned district by participating in community events, networking opportunities, industry gatherings, educational partnerships, and other public-facing activities.
  • Support new store openings, relocations, market expansion efforts, and business development initiatives by helping establish community relationships, increase market awareness, and accelerate customer engagement.
  • Maintain accountability for district-wide customer engagement, community participation, brand visibility, local market development, event effectiveness, customer loyalty, and overall market growth objectives.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to strengthen HobbyTown's reputation, expand community impact, increase customer engagement, and position the organization as the leading hobby retailer within each market served.

Market Development & Brand Growth

  • Identify underserved markets and expansion opportunities throughout Texas. 
  • Build strategic relationships with municipalities, Chambers of Commerce, tourism organizations, schools, STEM organizations, hobby clubs, and community leaders. 
  • Develop regional partnership strategies that position HobbyTown as a destination retailer. 
  • Oversee execution of regional sponsorships, trade shows, conventions, educational events, and enthusiast gatherings. 
  • Lead crisis communication efforts impacting the regional brand.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Retail Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional marketing experience. 
  • Minimum of 3 years in a marketing leadership or management role with direct responsibility for personnel, agencies, vendors, or cross-functional project leadership. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting a multi-unit retail, franchise, consumer products, or specialty retail organization. 
  • Experience managing annual marketing budgets. 
  • Experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple marketing channels. 
  • Experience managing digital marketing initiatives, including website content, email marketing, paid advertising, social media, and search engine optimization (SEO). 
  • Experience utilizing marketing analytics platforms to evaluate campaign performance and marketing effectiveness. 
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms and email marketing systems. 
  • Experience developing annual marketing plans and promotional calendars. 
  • Experience coordinating new store openings, promotional events, product launches, or comparable large-scale marketing initiatives. 
  • Experience managing relationships with external agencies, vendors, media partners, or marketing service providers. 
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to travel throughout Texas and other business locations as required.

  •  Experience with marketing automation and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar enterprise solutions. 
  •  Experience utilizing business intelligence and data visualization platforms such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar reporting tools.
