Job description

PPG is looking for a Strategic Marketing Analyst to join our team! You will support the Coatings Services growth strategy through market intelligence, customer insights, competitive analysis, and strategic opportunity assessment. You will identify where and how the business should grow by providing actionable insights on markets, industries, customers, competitors, and emerging opportunities. You will work closely with Commercial Excellence, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Leadership to support diversification efforts, pipeline growth, strategic account targeting, and long-term business planning. A key responsibility of this role is to build strong partnerships across PPG business units to identify opportunities where Coatings Services can leverage existing customer relationships, market presence, technologies, and industry expertise to accelerate growth in priority markets. You will report to the Senior Manager of Commercial Excellence and Marketing and work a hybrid schedule at either our Pittsburgh, PA office or Troy, Michigan Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop market intelligence and industry analyses that identify growth opportunities, emerging trends, market attractiveness, and strategic priorities across target industries, end markets, and geographies.
  • Conduct customer, account, and industry segmentation analyses to identify priority markets, target accounts, whitespace opportunities, and commercial growth potential that support diversification and pipeline expansion.
  • Maintain competitive intelligence programs including competitor mapping, benchmarking, market positioning assessments, and analysis of competitive threats and opportunities.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives by evaluating market opportunities, identifying target industries and accounts, developing account prioritization frameworks, and recommending actions that support market penetration and profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with commercial, marketing, and business leaders across PPG to identify cross-business opportunities, leverage existing customer relationships, and develop strategies that expand Coatings Services' presence in targeted industries and growth markets.
  • Partner with Commercial Excellence, Marketing, Sales, and other PPG business units to translate market and customer insights into actionable growth strategies, account plans, campaigns, and business development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Analytics, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years in market analysis, strategic marketing, business intelligence, commercial strategy, market research, or related functions
  • Experience with customer segmentation, market analysis, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning
  • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, CRM systems, and data visualization tools
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable business recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and business units to build alignment and support growth initiatives
