Job description

Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Journeyman Marine Propulsion Engineer with 3 years of experience and BS in Engineer. This fully remote position provides comprehensive lifecycle engineering support to the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center. Be part of a team that focuses on upgrading and sustaining cutters and boats to ensure continued operational effectiveness, safety, and compliance with current and future mission requirements.
Responsibilities
As a Journeyman Marine Propulsion Engineer you will have the opportunity to do the following:
  • Assist in design, development, and evaluation of the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as propulsion systems & power generation systems.
  • Support the US Coast Guard reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components.
  • Perform design reviews, evaluating constructability, helping resolve technical issues, and managing information generated through the design and construction phases.
  • Conduct analyses of propulsion systems and types, lead development of technical data packages and reviews.
  • Conduct trade studies regarding ship configuration.
  • Conduct marine engineering analysis.
  • Create graphical representations of structures and systems.
  • Inspect equipment or systems.
  • Assist in research of advanced engineering designs or applications.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal use.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance
  • At least 3+ years of experience in marine specific fields (i.e. propulsion systems, power-generation systems, fluids and hydraulics)
  • Experience with GE LM2500 or MTU Engines/Generators

Wage Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00/Yr. - USD $100,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
