Job description

We are seeking a Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI‑901) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to partner with our Curriculum Development Team to review and refine a certification‑aligned course. This role focuses on evaluating course materials across multiple development stages and providing actionable feedback to ensure accuracy, alignment, and instructional quality.
You will apply your expertise in Azure AI concepts and foundational implementation skills to assess course structure, content, and simulated activities aligned to the AI‑901 certification objectives, helping ensure learners are well prepared for both the exam and real‑world application.
This is a remote, project‑based contract role with the potential for ongoing work.
What you will do
This project is structured into three key milestones:
Milestone 1: Course outline review
  • Review the full course outline mapped to AI‑901 objective domains
  • Evaluate overall structure, sequencing, and topic coverage
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, or misalignment with certification objectives
  • Recommend improvements to ensure logical progression and appropriate scaffolding for entry‑level learners
Milestone 2: Course manuscript review (approximately 5 chapters)
  • Review detailed lesson content for accuracy, clarity, and alignment to AI‑901 skills measured
  • Ensure concepts are explained appropriately for a foundational audience
  • Identify technical inaccuracies, missing concepts, or unclear explanations
  • Provide specific, actionable recommendations for revisions and enhancements
  • Validate that content supports certification readiness and real‑world understanding of AI concepts
Milestone 3: Simulated activity review and feedback
  • Review developed simulated learning activities, including the associated step by step instructions provided to learners, aligned to AI‑901 certification objective domains
Evaluate whether each activity and its instructions:
  • Accurately reflect the intended learning objective
  • Align with AI‑901 certification skills and the expected entry level learner profile
  • Provide clear, logically structured steps that guide learners without introducing confusion or unnecessary complexity
  • Represent realistic and relevant AI use cases and scenarios
Provide clear, actionable guidance on:
  • Whether each activity and its instructions should be revised, enhanced, or repositioned within the course
  • How to improve instructions, prompts, and expected outcomes for clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness
  • Where each simulation should be placed within the course to support logical learning progression and reinforcement of key concepts
Required qualifications
Azure AI Fundamentals expertise
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI‑901) concepts and exam objectives
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, AI workloads, and foundational implementation concepts
Practical AI or cloud experience
  • Hands‑on or applied experience working with AI solutions, Azure services, or cloud‑based AI tools
  • Ability to translate conceptual knowledge into realistic scenarios
Curriculum review experience
  • Experience reviewing, teaching, or developing educational content (K–12, higher education, or professional learning)
  • Strong ability to evaluate instructional quality and alignment to learning objectives
  • Experience providing structured, actionable feedback for content improvement
Communication and analytical skills
  • Excellent written communication skills for clear and constructive feedback
  • High attention to detail when reviewing technical and instructional materials
  • Ability to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement
