Remote Manufacturing Accounting information

What is remote manufacturing accounting?

Remote manufacturing accounting refers to the practice of managing and overseeing the financial records, cost analysis, and budgeting processes for manufacturing companies from a remote location. Accountants in this role use cloud-based software and digital communication tools to track production costs, inventory, and financial performance without being physically present at the manufacturing site. This approach allows businesses to access skilled accounting professionals regardless of location and can improve efficiency and flexibility in financial management. Remote manufacturing accountants also ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and support decision-making for manufacturing operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote manufacturing accountant?

To thrive as a Remote Manufacturing Accountant, you need a solid background in accounting principles, cost accounting, and manufacturing processes, typically with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Proficiency with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks are essential. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are critical soft skills for collaborating virtually and interpreting complex financial data. These skills ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost control, and seamless coordination within remote manufacturing environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote manufacturing accounting roles, and how can they be overcome?

Remote manufacturing accounting professionals often face challenges such as coordinating with on-site teams, accessing real-time production data, and maintaining clear communication across departments. To overcome these obstacles, it's essential to leverage robust cloud-based ERP systems, schedule regular virtual meetings with plant managers and operations staff, and establish clear documentation protocols. Building strong relationships with cross-functional teams and proactively seeking clarification on production variances can also help ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.

Job description

Ranked #17 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100 Firms list and consistently recognized as a Great Place to Work, Cherry Bekaert delivers innovative advisory, assurance and tax services to its clients. The Firm is digitally driven, industry-aligned and focused on the middle market. Through sustained investment in financial technology, the Firm has become one of the largest Sage solution providers in the United States, a certified Sage Intacct Value-Added Reseller, and multi-year Sage Platinum Club honoree serving clients nationwide.

As the Firm continues to grow its national technology and outsourced accounting capabilities, an exceptional Partner-level opportunity is available to lead our Sage practice. This is a highly visible leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for practice strategy, growth, delivery quality, and team development across the full Sage product suite. The practice operates nationally; this role can be based in any of the Firm's U.S. office locations, with Atlanta or Houston preferred. A hybrid or remote arrangement is available.

Role Overview

The Sage Practice Leader serves as the senior relationship steward, commercial owner, and technical authority for the Firm's Sage practice, which delivers selection, implementation, integration, customization, optimization and ongoing support across Sage Intacct, Sage X3, Sage Intacct Construction, and related industry solutions. A central element of the role is fluency in the Sage ecosystem: its products, channel and partner programs, and the surrounding network of independent software vendors and third-party applications. The successful candidate will sustain and deepen the practice's established client relationships while identifying and capturing growth across industries and the broader Cherry Bekaert platform. This role also includes building the commercial and operational infrastructure for the practice, in conjunction with Advisory leadership and other technology practice leaders, to enable the organization to scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, growth and delivery of the Firm's national Sage practice across the full Sage product suite, including Sage Intacct, Sage X3, and Sage Intacct Construction.
  • Own the practice's commercial performance, including revenue growth, resource planning, utilization and margin, as the accountable practice leader.

Operational Excellence

  • Build and maintain the operational infrastructure of the practice, including delivery standards, quality control mechanisms, project governance frameworks, and resource capacity models that support consistent, scalable service delivery.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators across delivery, client satisfaction, utilization and financial performance, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement across the practice.
  • Collaborate with Advisory leadership and other technology practice leaders to align operational priorities, share resources effectively and build the commercial and delivery infrastructure necessary to scale the practice nationally.
  • Steward and deepen the Firm's relationship across the Sage ecosystem, including Sage's channel and partner programs, product roadmap and the surrounding community of independent software vendors and third-party application providers.
  • Serve as the senior relationship leader and trusted advisor for a portfolio of clients across industries such as construction, manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, professional services, not-for-profit and family offices.
  • Direct end-to-end enterprise resource planning (ERP) engagements, from selection and implementation through integration, customization, optimization and managed support.
  • Drive business development by expanding existing client relationships, cultivating referral sources and collaborating with the Firm's Outsourcing & Resource Solutions, Digital Advisory and industry teams on cross-service opportunities.

Sales Excellence

  • Develop and execute a disciplined, practice-wide sales strategy with defined pipeline targets, pursuit processes and win/loss feedback loops that build a predictable, high-quality revenue funnel.
  • Lead the pursuit of strategic new-logo and expansion opportunities, personally engaging in key proposals, executive presentations and contract negotiations for significant or complex engagements.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing sales culture within the practice by coaching team members on business development skills, establishing accountability for individual pipeline contribution and recognizing commercial achievement.

Talent Identification and Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop a Sage practice leadership team, fostering technical excellence and a high-performing, collaborative delivery culture.
  • Proactively identify and assess high-potential talent across the Sage, ERP and finance-technology market, building a pipeline of candidates for key practice leadership, delivery and sales roles in advance of need.
  • Collaborate with the Firm's recruiting and human resources functions to design compelling career paths, competitive compensation structures and retention strategies that attract and retain top Sage and ERP professionals.
  • Champion a culture of learning and professional growth, supporting team members' pursuit of Sage certifications, continuing education and leadership development opportunities aligned with both individual and practice objectives.
  • Contribute to the Firm's market presence through thought leadership, Sage community engagement and participation in relevant industry and product forums.

M&A Leadership

  • Identify, evaluate and help cultivate acquisition and alliance targets that strengthen the Firm's Sage capabilities, geographic footprint or industry depth, collaborating with Advisory leadership and corporate development throughout the process.
  • Lead practice-level due diligence on prospective acquisitions, assessing cultural alignment, technical capabilities, client base quality and integration feasibility.
  • Drive post-close integration of acquired teams and client relationships into the Sage practice, ensuring retention of key personnel, continuity of client service and rapid alignment to the Firm's delivery and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and active CPA license are required.
  • Substantial experience leading a Sage practice or a comparable ERP or business-applications consulting practice, with demonstrated knowledge across the Sage product suite (Sage Intacct and/or Sage X3).
  • Deep familiarity with the Sage ecosystem of partners and products, including Sage's channel and partner programs, product portfolio and the surrounding independent software vendor and third-party application landscape.
  • Demonstrated practice-leadership track record, including ownership of growth, commercial performance, delivery quality and team development within a consulting or value-added reseller environment.
  • Established business development capability and a professional network within the Sage, ERP or middle-market finance-technology community.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-phase ERP implementations and integrations across multiple industries.
  • Strong leadership instincts and a demonstrated investment in the growth of others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise senior client stakeholders such as chief financial officers, controllers and finance leaders, and to collaborate effectively across service lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute a disciplined sales strategy, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue growth targets in a consulting or technology services environment.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions in a professional services or technology context, including target identification, due diligence and post-close integration; direct M&A involvement in a practice leadership capacity is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, attract and develop high-performing talent, including experience building succession pipelines, designing career development frameworks and collaborating with recruiting functions to support practice growth.
  • Proven operational leadership experience, including the design and management of delivery infrastructure, governance frameworks and performance metrics for a consulting practice at scale.
