What are remote LISWs?

Remote LISWs are Licensed Independent Social Workers who provide their services virtually, often through telehealth platforms. They offer counseling, therapy, and support to clients from a remote location, allowing greater flexibility and access to care. Remote LISWs must hold the appropriate licensure, follow state regulations, and maintain client confidentiality while using secure communication tools. This role is ideal for those seeking to expand their practice beyond traditional in-person settings.

What are some common challenges faced by a Remote LISW and how can they be managed?

As a Remote Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), some common challenges include maintaining client engagement over virtual platforms, ensuring client confidentiality, and managing work-life boundaries when working from home. To address these, it's important to use secure telehealth software, establish a private workspace, and set clear communication protocols with clients. Regular team check-ins and peer consultations can also help you stay connected, supported, and up-to-date with best practices in remote care.

However, typical salaries for LISWs range from $50,000 to $80,000 per year, and reaching $200,000 usually requires additional roles, private practice, or administrative positions.
