Position Title: Information Engineer Level I

Position Location: Full-time, Primarily remote, from the Systems Plus office in Rockville, Maryland, or from another approved location, with virtual meetings and occasional onsite activities at NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, as required


Daily Responsibilities: 

  • Gather and document business, functional, user, and technical requirements for SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform modernization initiatives.
  • Analyze and document current business processes, workflows, content, information structures, user needs, and system dependencies.
  • Support stakeholder interviews, content inventories, content audits, card-sorting activities, usability testing, and migration assessments.
  • Develop and refine information architecture, navigation, metadata, taxonomy, content types, document libraries, and content organization standards.
  • Translate business and user needs into actionable requirements, process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, and recommendations for technical teams.
  • Support planning for SharePoint content migration, archival, search, permissions, records management, accessibility, and integration with Microsoft Teams, Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Collaborate with application, data, and project management personnel throughout design, development, testing, implementation, and sustainment.


Required Years of Experience (min):       

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in information engineering, information architecture, business analysis, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, business process analysis, or related IT disciplines.


Required Degree/Certifications:           

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Science, Management Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Business or Systems Analysis, Engineering, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, UX/HCI, Agile, or Section 508 training or certification is preferred but not required.

Required Experience & Expertise in the following areas:

  • Experience supporting SharePoint Online intranet or portal modernization, content migration, archival, Microsoft Search, metadata, taxonomy, or permissions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power BI, and Teams.
  • Experience with UX or human-centered design methods, including stakeholder interviews, card sorting, usability testing, or process mapping.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility, federal records management, role-based access controls, or federal Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Experience using JIRA or an equivalent Agile work-management tool.


Required Clearance:

  • Background Check- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the Government system and logical access required for assigned duties.
