Join a U.S. Employment Law Firm Handling Meaningful Litigation Work


AKB Law is a boutique employment law firm based in Indianapolis, Indiana, representing professional women in workplace legal matters, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and related employment claims.


We are seeking an experienced Remote Litigation Attorney based in South Africa to join our growing remote legal team on a full-time, long-term independent contractor basis.


This is not a basic support role. We are looking for a litigation-focused attorney who enjoys legal research, drafting, strategic thinking, and producing polished, court-ready work product that directly impacts active employment litigation matters in U.S. federal and state courts.


You will work closely with Managing Attorney Amber K. Boyd, Esq., who supervises all work product and remains attorney of record on every matter.

Responsibilities:

Litigation Drafting & Discovery

  • Draft interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, witness lists, exhibit lists, and initial disclosures
  • Draft discovery responses, objections, deficiency letters, and meet-and-confer correspondence
  • Prepare motions, memoranda, briefs, and litigation correspondence
  • Assist with responses to motions for summary judgment

Legal Research & Case Analysis

Conduct legal research involving:

  • Title VII
  • ADA
  • ADEA
  • FMLA
  • FLSA
  • Related Indiana employment law claims
  • Verify legal citations using Westlaw before submission
  • Analyze legal issues and contribute to litigation strategy discussions

Case Management & Team Collaboration

  • Maintain organized case files within the firm’s case management system
  • Communicate proactively regarding deadlines, progress, and open issues
  • Apply firm-specific litigation standards and internal procedures consistently

Qualifications:

Required

  • Licensed attorney admitted to practice in South Africa
  • LLB or equivalent law degree
  • Minimum 3 years of post-admission litigation experience
  • Strong legal research and legal writing skills
  • Advanced experience drafting discovery and litigation documents
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Exceptional attention to detail and citation accuracy
  • Familiarity with online legal research platforms
  • Reliable high-speed internet and professional remote work environment
  • Ability to work full-time with meaningful overlap during U.S. Eastern Time business hours
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in a remote environment

Preferred

  • Experience with U.S.-style civil litigation and discovery practice
