The Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) is the only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to advancing the knowledge and success of construction financial professionals. Since 1981, CFMA has served the industry through education, professional development, networking, and thought leadership.

With more than 11,000 members across 90 chapters throughout the United States and Canada, CFMA supports professionals representing general contractors, specialty contractors, developers, construction managers, architects, engineers, accounting firms, banks, sureties, technology providers, insurance organizations, and other construction industry partners.

Position Overview

CFMA is seeking a creative and organized Instructional Learning Experience Designer to develop engaging educational experiences that support the professional growth of construction financial professionals. This position designs and delivers learning solutions across instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced online formats while collaborating with subject matter experts and internal teams.

The ideal candidate enjoys transforming technical information into meaningful learning experiences using instructional design principles, multimedia tools, and emerging learning technologies.

Primary ResponsibilitiesInstructional Design & Learning Development
  • Design engaging educational experiences using adult learning and instructional design best practices.
  • Convert technical subject matter into learner-focused courses, activities, and educational resources.
  • Create assessments, exercises, case studies, and interactive learning components that reinforce measurable learning objectives.
  • Support competency-based education initiatives and structured learning pathways.
Course Development & Digital Content Creation
  • Manage the complete development process for online and blended learning programs.
  • Develop multimedia learning assets including videos, interactive modules, graphics, storyboards, scripts, assessments, and presentation materials.
  • Utilize e-learning authoring software, multimedia applications, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and learner engagement.
  • Coordinate recording sessions with subject matter experts and assist with editing and production activities.
  • Establish standardized templates and development processes that promote consistency across the educational portfolio.
  • Research new instructional technologies and recommend innovative approaches to improve course quality and learner experience.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Review educational content to ensure accessibility, accreditation, and quality standards are maintained.
  • Conduct testing and quality assurance reviews before course publication.
  • Analyze learner feedback and participation data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with ongoing maintenance and updates to existing educational content.
Project Coordination
  • Manage multiple instructional design projects while balancing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Partner with volunteers, subject matter experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Maintain project documentation and assist with reporting related to educational initiatives and program performance.
Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Learning Design, Multimedia Design, or a related discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience designing instructional materials, developing e-learning programs, or creating digital learning experiences.
  • Experience building engaging online learning courses and multimedia educational content.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with subject matter experts to develop educational programs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, accessibility standards, and learner engagement strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Interest in learning new technologies, AI-enabled development tools, and innovative instructional approaches.
Preferred

Candidates are encouraged to include a portfolio or work samples showcasing instructional design projects, online learning development, multimedia production, or course creation experience.
