This role is remote or hybrid in Burnsville, MN, with up to 50% travel throughout North America.

Job Description

The Business Development Director leads a regional team focused on driving demand generation, expanding project opportunities, and strengthening strategic relationships within targeted markets. Working closely with Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Sales District Managers (SDMs), this role engages end users, consultants, and A&E firms early in the sales cycle to influence specifications and increase adoption of Electro-Voice Dynacord solutions. The position also plays a key role in elevating product awareness and technical expertise across the sales organization.

Team Leadership & Structure:

  • Lead and manage two distinct business development teams, each with a complementary focus and operating model.
  • Oversee a team of experienced industry professionals with established relationships across consultants, end users, the construction ecosystem, and strategic partners.
  • Build, hire, and develop a high-energy, growth-focused team tasked with identifying and pursuing whitespace opportunities and generating net-new business directly with end customers.

Business Development & Market Growth:

  • Develop and execute regional and/or vertical-market strategies, action plans, and relationships that influence the specification and purchase of Electro-Voice Dynacord solutions.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate target clients based on business potential and industry influence.
  • Generate, manage, and secure project leads within assigned regions and focus verticals.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and maximize existing market potential.
  • Attend industry and trade association events and support public relations activities.

Client & Industry Engagement:

  • Build relationships with specifiers, influencers, and decision-makers across assigned industry segments and accounts.
  • Present and tailor technical and commercial solutions to customer needs while maintaining consistent follow-up.
  • Gather and communicate market trends, customer feedback, product requirements, and end-user insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all client interactions and industry appearances align with Electro-Voice Dynacord business objectives and professional standards.

Sales & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Support the sales process from initial relationship development through needs analysis, strategic account planning, product demonstrations, solution specification, proposal development, and project close.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources-including SDMs, KAMs, Product Management, and partners-to advance and close opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with sales teams to support bids, installations, and strategic partner engagement.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree highly desired; Bachelor's degree preferred in a technical field, marketing, management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with professional audio products, including customer-facing responsibilities, preferably at the manufacturer level.
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Industry affiliations and certifications are strongly preferred.

Required Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and customer engagement abilities.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional organizational, follow-up, and integrative skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the design and installation of IP/IT products, professional audio, or communications solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions.
  • Appropriately assertive and diplomatic, with the ability to influence the organization.
  • Ability to establish trust, credibility, and lasting professional relationships.
  • Consistent and dependable in both actions and communication.
  • Resourceful, action-oriented, and persistent in overcoming challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Required Abilities: 

  • Ability to work onsite in Burnsville, MN; this is a hybrid work environment with the expectation of being onsite a minimum of three (3) days/week, sometimes more dependent on business need.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while working at a computer, with regular opportunities to move or change position.
  • Requires visual acuity to view a computer monitor and read documents, as well as the ability to communicate clearly in person and through digital platforms.
  • Ability to maintain focus and productivity in a typical office environment with standard noise levels and ergonomic equipment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned geographic region (approximately 50%+ travel required).
Additional Information

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000-160,000 annually. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
