What is a Remote IT Auditor?

A Remote IT Auditor is a professional who evaluates and examines an organization's information technology systems, processes, and controls while working remotely, rather than onsite. Their main role is to ensure that IT infrastructure is secure, compliant with regulations, and operating efficiently. They review areas such as cybersecurity, data protection, access controls, and IT policies using virtual tools and secure communication platforms. Remote IT Auditors often collaborate with internal teams through video calls and digital documentation. This role is crucial for organizations that want to maintain strong IT governance while supporting flexible or distributed work environments.

How does a Remote IT Auditor effectively collaborate with on-site teams during an audit?

Remote IT Auditors frequently use secure video conferencing, screen sharing, and collaborative project management tools to communicate with on-site teams. Building strong relationships and maintaining clear, consistent communication are key to overcoming challenges such as time zone differences and lack of physical presence. Auditors often schedule regular check-ins, request documentation electronically, and may use secure remote access to systems for evidence gathering. This approach ensures audits remain thorough and timely, while fostering teamwork despite geographical distance.

This remote IT Operations Specialist position earns a competitive wage of $25-30/hour. We provide excellent benefits, including a 401(k) with match, paid time off (PTO) accrual for part-time employees, and a company laptop. If this sounds like the right part-time opportunity for you, apply today!

ABOUT LEDGERGURUS

Founded in 2014, we are a remote, virtual outsourced accounting company that specializes in eCommerce accounting. Small and medium-sized businesses hire us to become the accounting department or to work with their finance team. eCommerce is a new realm of accounting, and we are one of the few that are blazing trails through it. We provide each client with a bookkeeper and accounting manager to do bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, bill payments, budgeting, financial analysis, CFO services and more.

Employee satisfaction is a main focus in our business model. In fact, we have won the title of "Best Business to Work for in Utah" by Utah Business Magazine several years in a row! We offer a great home/work-life balance, 100% remote work and flexible scheduling. We are currently able to hire anywhere from Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Kansas, Arizona, and Florida. LedgerGurus is very employee-focused, which shows up in the training and the attention that we put into making sure everyone is happy in their role. We also provide perks like PTO accrual and 401K matching for part-time employees, as well as internal growth potential for our employees. We strive to provide our team members with a supportive work environment and engaged management.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REMOTE IT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

The IT Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting both our clients and internal teams. This position combines client onboarding, account access management, technical support, and process improvement. You'll work directly with clients to gain access to financial, eCommerce, banking, and business systems, helping our accounting teams get the access they need to serve clients effectively. You'll also support internal IT operations and assist with automation projects that improve efficiency across the organization.

As one of the first LedgerGurus team members many clients interact with, you'll help create a positive first impression through clear communication, professionalism, and problem-solving.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A REMOTE IT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

  • Confidence to comfortably work with clients, both in written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Desire and ability to improve processes and work without much oversight
  • 3+ years in an IT related role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and its tools

Experience with workflow automation, creating SOPs, and internal training documentation is a major plus.

WORK SCHEDULE

The IT Operations Specialist offers part-time work at 25 hours a week. This could become a full-time position for the right employee after 6+ months if desired. We require 3-4 hours of availability during normal business hours for meetings and client communication. You have the flexibility and freedom to dictate when other work can be completed. All of our employees work remotely from home 100% of the time!

ARE YOU READY TO JOIN OUR IT TEAM?

If you feel that you would be right for this remote, part-time IT role and would like to work from home, please fill out our initial 3-minute, mobile-friendly application. We look forward to meeting you!
