Job description

Koniag Government Services,LLCis hiring a Buyer to support its Shared Services Division. The Buyer is responsible for executing procurement activities in support of direct federal programs. This role ensures timely, complaint, and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services in accordance with prime contract requirements, company policies, and applicable federal regulations, including FAR and DFARS. The Buyer works closely with Operations/Program teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support successful contract performance. The position is remote.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in support of federal prime contracts.
  • Source and evaluate vendors to ensure best value, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure all procurement actions comply with FAR/DFARS, and company procurement policies.
  • Obtain and analyze vendor quotes, negotiate pricing and terms when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate procurement files and documentation to support audits and compliance reviews.
  • Track and manage purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery and resolving delays or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with program managers, project controllers, and accounting/finance teams to align procurement activities with project schedules.
  • Support subcontractor and supplier onboarding, including required documentation and compliance checks.
  • Assist with the resolution of supplier invoice/payment issues.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks that may impact contract performance.
  • Other organizational projects as assigned.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligation.
  • Must be a team player willing to ensure projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Must have a high attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasking and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook)

Experience:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or related discipline, and 2-5 years of procurement experience supporting direct federal procurements. Equivalent combinations of education, professional training, and progressively responsible procurement experience may be considered.
  • Experience working for a Small Business and/or 8(a), ANC is a plus.
  • JAMIS Prime ERP Accounting System experience preferred.
  • Industry-specific training and/or certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures affecting Federal Government Contractor Purchasing Systems and ensuring successful Government review is a plus.
