Job description

We are excited to be hiring a Senior Counsel, Commercial Litigation and Investigations, Global Legal Pharma. The position is based at Genentech in South San Francisco. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Global Commercial Litigation and Investigations. It is a high-impact role with significant visibility across the business, leading and supporting worldwide commercial litigation and the defense of government enforcement actions.

The Opportunity

  • Leading and managing an active and varied caseload of commercial litigations and/or government investigations, appeals, and other adversarial proceedings, while advising on substantive legal strategy with creativity, vision and appropriate risk tolerance.

  • Partnering closely with and advising business clients and legal department colleagues on a broad range of high-impact, strategic issues using a practical and business-minded approach.

  • Developing strategies to advance, avoid or resolve regional, national, and international disputes, including directly negotiating settlements.

  • Counseling on multi-jurisdictional litigations or other proceedings, including coordinating with counterparts around the world.

  • Contributing to cross-functional or departmental projects and teams in Global Legal Pharma.

  • Working effectively in teams and with a cross-section of stakeholders within Genentech and Roche Pharma.

  • Ability to travel in conjunction with managing and resolving disputes.

Who You Are

  • Minimum 7-10+ years of experience litigating and resolving complex, high-stakes, commercial litigation and/or government investigations.

  • Expert litigation strategist and visionary with the ability to set and execute high impact and creative strategies.

  • Hands-on trial and litigation skills preferred.

  • Experienced litigator in the life sciences, including but not limited to complex commercial contract disputes, IP litigations, FCA matters, class action litigations, and/or product liability cases.

  • Knowledgeable and committed to deploying emerging AI-enabled technologies to increase productivity, speed and efficiency in litigation management.

  • Experience in an in-house setting is preferred, but not required.

  • Must be currently licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. state, and must be registered or currently eligible to register as a Registered In-House Counsel in California.

Location

  • This role is located at Genentech's South San Francisco, California campus. A remote working arrangement is not available.

  • Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is$203,800 to $378,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
