WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage a full caseload of California workers' compensation defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Represent employers, insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators
  • Conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB)
  • Draft pleadings, petitions, motions, legal briefs, and settlement agreements
  • Analyze medical records, expert reports, and vocational evidence
  • Develop litigation strategies that achieve efficient and cost-effective case resolution
  • Negotiate settlements while protecting client interests
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, claims adjusters, employers, and opposing counsel
  • Ensure timely case management and compliance with California workers' compensation procedures
  • Utilize legal technology and case management systems to efficiently manage deadlines and reporting


WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
  • Minimum of 3 years of workers' compensation experience (defense preferred)
  • Strong legal writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills

  • California workers' compensation defense litigation experience
  • Applicant/plaintiff workers' compensation experience with an interest in transitioning to defense
  • Experience representing insurance carriers, employers, or TPAs
  • Trial and deposition experience before the WCAB
  • Familiarity with California Labor Code and workers' compensation regulations
  • Experience with legal case management software
  • International or out-of-state workers' compensation experience will be considered, provided the candidate is admitted to the California State Bar and authorized to practice law in California
  • Attorneys with fewer than three years of experience may be considered for the Los Angeles (El Segundo) office
