Posted 15 days ago

Job description

Anderson University International Graduate School invites applications for part-time Graduate Teaching Assistants to support the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership and Artificial Intelligence and other graduate programs as assigned. Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The University seeks qualified candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
The Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA) serves as an instructional support professional, working under the direction of the course's credentialed faculty member (Lead Professor) to enhance the graduate learning experience in online, hybrid, and Intensive Residency courses. Teaching Assistants provide timely communication with students, assist with course administration, monitor student engagement and academic progress, facilitate discussions, provide assignment feedback, and support classroom activities that strengthen student learning. By providing instructional and logistical support, Teaching Assistants enable the Lead Professor to concentrate on delivering high-quality instruction while ensuring students receive prompt guidance, individualized attention, and an engaging educational experience throughout the course.
Teaching Assistants are expected to become thoroughly familiar with course materials, assignments, grading expectations, and learning resources within Canvas to effectively support students and maintain academic quality. Responsibilities include monitoring attendance and student participation, assisting with the dissemination of course information, responding to student inquiries within 24 to 48 hours, providing assignment feedback as directed by the Lead Professor, assisting with online discussions, projects, presentations, research papers, and team assignments, and maintaining regular communication with the Lead Professor regarding student progress and concerns. During Intensive Residency sessions, Teaching Assistants may assist with classroom preparation, instructional technology, audiovisual equipment, classroom logistics, and other responsibilities necessary to ensure an effective learning environment.
Teaching Assistants also serve as an important resource for graduate students by encouraging academic engagement, helping students understand course expectations, supporting collaborative learning, and contributing to a positive educational experience. Because the International Graduate School serves students from diverse countries and cultures, Teaching Assistants are expected to demonstrate cultural awareness, professionalism, and a commitment to outstanding student service.
An earned master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to doctoral candidates or individuals who hold a terminal degree (Ed.D., Ph.D., DBA, DOL, or other post-master's degree). Academic preparation should be in leadership, business, organizational management, artificial intelligence, information technology, education, or another closely related discipline appropriate to the assigned course.
Candidates supporting leadership courses should demonstrate knowledge of organizational behavior, strategic leadership, change management, organizational development, or technology adoption. Candidates supporting artificial intelligence courses should demonstrate practical experience with generative artificial intelligence, large language model (LLM) applications, prompt engineering, AI-assisted research, agentic workflows, and other emerging AI technologies appropriate for graduate instruction.
Successful candidates will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a strong attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, maintain academic integrity, collaborate effectively with faculty, and work with a culturally diverse graduate student population is essential. Experience working with international students or within multicultural educational environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems is preferred.
