Job description

Location: Atlanta, GA (strong preference for in-office)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Leadership / C-Suite
Reports To: Managing Partner & Founder

We are a growing private wealth advisory practice seeking a strategic, execution-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO/ President) to partner closely with the Founder in leading and scaling the business. The COO/ President will be the operational and strategic engine of the firm—responsible for turning ideas into structured plans, driving implementation, managing team performance, and ensuring the practice continues evolving as a scalable, enterprise-level business.

This is a unique opportunity for a leader who thrives in a hybrid role touching operations, sales management, financial oversight, and strategic planning. You will become the Founder’s right-hand partner and play a key role in shaping the future of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Translate the Founder’s vision and ideas into actionable strategic plans with clear timelines, metrics, and accountability.
  • Lead initiatives that drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and scalability.
  • Identify future talent needs and partner on hiring decisions (sales manager, operations, planning, etc.).
  • Serve as a thought partner who can challenge assumptions and offer better solutions when needed.

Operations & Practice Management

  • Oversee all day-to-day operational functions of the practice.
  • Build structure, processes, and systems that create consistency and support growth.
  • Manage workflows, project execution, and internal accountability across the team.
  • Ensure the Founder is free to focus on high-value client relationships and leadership where needed.

Sales & Business Development Oversight

  • Monitor key performance indicators, including production, pipeline activity, and advisor metrics.
  • Hold advisors and team members accountable to expectations, targets, and reporting.
  • Conduct performance discussions when activity or output declines.

Financial & Business Management

  • Over time, assume responsibility for understanding and managing firm financials, P&L, budgeting, and profitability drivers.
  • Use data to inform operational and strategic decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for investment, cost efficiency, or restructuring.

Leadership & Culture

  • Serve as a stabilizing presence in the office—setting tone, expectations, and accountability.
  • Build trust with the team and with the Founder through clear communication and consistent follow-through.
  • Model a high-performance, professional, and growth-oriented culture.
  • Help transform the practice from a lifestyle model to an enterprise model.

Support During Travel & Absence

  • Confidently run the practice during extended periods when the Founder is traveling or abroad.
  • Maintain strong communication cadence and ensure issues are escalated only when necessary.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in financial services, operations and business management.
  • Strong ability to create structure, implement systems, and hold teams accountable.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to challenge, advise, and partner with a Founder.
  • Experience managing people, driving performance, and executing complex initiatives.
  • High integrity and ability to build trust over time, especially in sensitive areas like financial oversight.

Strongly Preferred

  • Financial services experience, particularly in a wealth management or advisory environment.
  • Ameriprise experience (Home Office or field), due to the complexity and unique systems within the platform.
  • Prior experience in a C-suite or second-in-command role.

Additional Preferences

  • In-office presence in Atlanta; remote candidates will be considered only if exceptionally strong and highly experienced.
  • Ability to manage independent work while keeping leadership informed.

Compensation

Base compensation $180,000–$200,000 with a bonus 30–40% target, tied to growth + execution

Full benefits package

Why This Role Matters

This is not a maintenance role—it is a build and grow role. The COO/President will have a true seat at the table, significant influence, and the opportunity to shape a practice with meaningful growth potential. The Founder is committed to hiring someone who can run the business, elevate the team, and become a long-term strategic partner.

A background check will be conducted as part of the hiring process, and successful completion is required for employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
