Job description

The Market Intelligence Specialist is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting market, customer, and competitive data to inform the overall growth strategy. The successful candidate will serve as the primary expert on the competitive landscape for AEVEX products, translating complex market data into actionable intelligence. This role is critical in helping the leadership team understand how AEVEX and its competitors products, services and technologies stack up against competition. It will also directly influence "Capture" strategies and "Price-to-Win" (PTW) modeling by identifying market gaps and competitor vulnerabilities to ensure high win rates on government contracts.

Essential Functions

Market Forecasting

  • Monitor and report on market shifts, regulatory changes, political influence and macroeconomic factors impacting the business
  • Monitor DoD budget cycles to forecast funding for specific Programs of Record.
  • Identify technological shifts and future trends and their impact on our market share.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for marketing strategy
  • Develop and maintain market intelligence reports, dashboards, and briefings for key stakeholders

Competitive Intelligence

  • Analyze competitive landscape, including competitor positioning, pricing, messaging, and product offerings
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify industry trends, customer needs, and emerging opportunities
  • Research competitor portfolios, financial health, and strategic pivots by the competition both domestically and internationally.
  • Evaluate our products against rival systems, focusing on technical specs, lifecycle costs, and performance.
  • Maintain detailed SWOT profiles of the competition for each product line.
  • Lead "Black Hat" reviews to simulate competitor responses during the proposal and bidding phases.

Capture & Price to Win

  • Develop data-driven Price-to-Win recommendations based on historical award data and competitor cost structures.
  • Advise Capture Managers on the "Value Proposition" needed to displace incumbents or defend current programs.
  • Partner with product teams to refine value propositions and messaging based on market insights
  • Analyze FedBizOpps, GovWin, and other procurement databases to track spending trends and contract award patterns.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.
  • Embodies AEVEX's cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Security Clearance -Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Understanding of the PPBE process, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS), and the defense procurement lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the UxS, Manned Aviation, Services and Technology sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large data sets into meaningful insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS) in a related technical or business field preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years of dedicated market intelligence or business development experience preferably within aerospace & defense.
  • Experience with research tools and data platforms
  • Experience in a marketing or product marketing environment
