Job description

About the Opportunity
Equivity is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with strong, hands-on experience using legal practice management software such as Clio Manage and Clio Grow (or similar platforms) to support day-to-day law firm operations.
This is an assignment-based opportunity designed for legal assistants who value the flexibility of remote work and enjoy supporting a variety of law firms and matters across the country. As client needs evolve, assignments and workload may vary based on business demand. This role is a good fit for a legal assistant who values professional flexibility and is comfortable with a workload that can fluctuate rather than requiring a guaranteed number of weekly hours from the outset.
When actively supporting clients, responsiveness is important. Because client needs can arise on short notice, legal assistants are expected to remain responsive to their active clients and Equivity managers within one hour during their stated availability.
If you're a legal assistant who appreciates autonomy, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to work with multiple legal teams, this assignment-based model may be a strong fit.
Responsibilities May Include
  • Setting up, organizing, and maintaining matters, contacts, calendars, tasks, and workflows in Clio or a similar practice management system
  • Configuring practice management software features to improve law firm organization and efficiency
  • Creating and maintaining templates, custom fields, task lists, and matter structures
  • Supporting client intake and matter-opening processes
  • Managing legal calendars, deadlines, appointments, and attorney schedules
  • Organizing electronic client and matter files
  • Generating reports and tracking matters, tasks, and firm activity
  • Identifying opportunities to improve workflows and administrative processes
  • Providing general legal administrative support based on client needs
  • Communicating professionally with clients, courts, vendors, and other legal professionals
We Are Looking For
  • At least one year of recent experience supporting attorneys or working in a law firm environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Clio Manage and/or Clio Grow, or comparable legal practice management software (e.g., MyCase, PracticePanther, Filevine)
  • Experience creating or improving workflows, matter structures, templates, tasks, or related functions within a practice management system
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Availability to support at least 20 hours per week when assignments are available
  • Strong understanding of law firm processes and legal terminology
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Comfort learning new technology and improving existing processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Access to a reliable Windows-based computer
  • Ability to respond within one hour during stated availability
Compensation and Work Structure
  • W-2 employment
  • Compensation: $23 per hour
  • Part-time, assignment-based work
  • Assignment volume and hours may vary based on client demand
  • Client assignments may take time to develop and are not guaranteed immediately upon joining
  • Benefits eligibility may depend on employment status and applicable plan requirements
Why Join Equivity?
At Equivity, you will join a nationwide team of legal professionals supporting attorneys and law firms across the country. You will receive ongoing support from Equivity's internal operations and leadership teams while working remotely and applying your skills to substantive legal and administrative assignments.
Benefits include:
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid sick time
  • Employee discounts
  • Annual performance bonuses
  • Six-month pay reviews with potential hourly increases based on performance
  • Reimbursement of certain business expenses
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities
